Is the base a gloss black or a flat or satin? I can't tell from pictures.

Anyone use K & N filter? Have a little more room than I thought so I am going to try a 3" oval. Need a little more air me thinks... lid is a bit too close to the carb air bleeds and is restricting them. This is what I get for going mod custom lol

Anyway ebay guy has these for $80 free shipping right now.

lol

I reckon it's gloss. on all "correct" ones ive seen they is gloss.

got a linky for the air cleaner? I want to get a K&N open element for my 4bbl (unsilenced)?

The lid isn't restricting the air bleeds !!!

Lol I know, I have another issue but also just wanted the whole filter area up in more direct flow. Had a 1" phenolic spacer on there but had to take it off in order for the assembly to fit. went out for a test drive and it was like a total bog off the line if I tired to get into it, haven't had time to look at it since maybe this weekend. Well made time and stupidme had the return spring bracket on without the spacer so the arm for the front fuel pump was locked tight lol all good now. :)

i have a K&N on mine. i had to trim the back of the hood. But it does sit up higher than it should with the raised port heads. i have an origional lid on it now, had to do even more trimming for the wide lip. probably be iffy with standard ports.

Man your gasket came out so straight and clean! mine looks like my 4 yr old did it. lol But it's done now at least. Got the 3" K&N oval in there now too and it fits good. I guess my hood alignment is off got a small gap on the drivers side, other than that it's a good seal. Steve at Hy-brid fiberglass left the base tall so I could fit it to my set up, I had to lose the 1" phenolic spacer and go with a 1/4" one but that allowed me to get the 3" filter so all good. Seems a bit odd the hood alignment and the motor being off center makes the cleaner sit to the passenger side how does the alignment work?

looks like your hole is maybe to big on the drivers side or not offset enough? i have an original hood and the hole is offset the same as the engine. you can see it on my gasket, only reason it looked so good in the first pics is i hadn't squished it with the hood. i was actually dreading putting the hood on it and messing up the gasket.. lol
