Well I decided to replace my points and coil. I eneded up returning the petronix module because I wanted to keep it orginal.I set the gap at .016 also replaced the coil and now Im not getting a spark.I ended up putting my old points and coil back on and still nothing.Im thinking I damaged the ballast resistor.Any ideas?

its on.If I got power on the blue wire of resistor does that mean its good?

Check for power at the positive terminal of the coil with the key in the run position. Once its determined if voltage is present at the coil or not, we know which direction to go.

If i got power there im thinking that i might have a bad cap and rotor connection. I noticed the small metal tab on the rotor was flat not angled up.

Also check your connection to the points/condenser. It's easy to tighten the nut and turn the terminals so that they touch the point plate, effectively grounding the connection.

Is my distributor a single or dual points.maybe i have the wrong points?

did you replace the condenser as well? Perhaps it's bad (shorted to ground)...

X2... make sure the flat copper lead didn't get twisted and touching ground...

When you set the .016" gap did you set it when the point rubbing block was on one of the high points of the distributor cam? Basic question, but needs to be asked.

Make sure the flat spring from your points is between the insulated part of the mount. If it's on the wrong side it will short them out.

Sometimes I've even had to arc the points with the ignition on in order to energise the condenser. Just use a screwdriver to open and close the points to make a spark.

Do you have a multi-meter so that you can check the voltage at the + side of the coil, as suggested above?

All fixxed.it was an open between the resistor and postive side of coil.thanks guys
