The Long Road to my 74 Satellite Rebuild

Nice work, I really like the seats and shifter. Hopefully that Demon is in good working order for you because those are really nice carbs. Good luck

Finally back home for a few days!

Nice work, I really like the seats and shifter. Hopefully that Demon is in good working order for you because those are really nice carbs. Good luck

Thanks 747! Im really happy with how it has all turned out so far. Your seats where part of the inspiration for swapping mine out. Unfortunately the Demon is going to need a rebuild. Its an unused carb but it sat on a shelf for a few years hooked it up and started leaking gas. Its a 625 Road Demon with vacuum secondaries. I think I'll be really happy with it after i replace the gaskets. Just orders the overhaul kit from Summit.

Also bought a few other interior goodies for the car while i was away at work. Im going to put my stereo in the glove box, so im going to add this to guy to the console so ill have place to plug in my music and not have to have the glove box open.

Also picked up an overdrive switch to control the transmission.

And the bits im most excited about are guages. I decided to upgrade to autometer gauges an i picked up an A/F mix gauge from AEM. Going to move them from under the dash to on the A-Pillar so i can actually see them.

He also finished up the center console top plate. I think it turned out pretty awesome. You can see the O/D switch and the USB/AUX input for the stereo.

After seeing the larger wheels guys have been putting on their cars i decided I really like the look. Did a little photoshopping with a car i found online and some wheels i like, what do you guys think of these?

Next will be blocking and doing the jambs, really hoping to have it in color this summer but we will see.

Wheel's look pretty slick! I'm not a big oversized wheel guy either, but got to admit those foot the bill pretty good! Are those Coy's Wheel's?

not my cup of tea, but you're not building that car for me. if you like them, go for it.

I think it looks good with the rallyes! LOL By the way, when I first bought my car, it had the MR. Gasket version of the shifter you put in. I miss that shifter for sure, I took it out years ago and restored to original slap stick.

Cant wait to see this car painted and done, should look awesome!

Thats one sweet ride coming and i agree it should look awesome!!! 73-74 are cool looking rides for sure!!

Hey thanks guys! Currently between those wheels, the 17 inch year one rallyes or fixing up the stock rallyes and putting the correct trim ring on. (I think id like them alot better if i did that.) Who knows ill probably change my mind 10 more times between now and then.

Prop the wheels are MB Wheels Old School, I stumbled across them while cuising the web.

Thanks idrive, I really like it too, a lot more fun than the column shifter. Your car its awesome man!

Thanks ron! I really dig these 73-74's too.

Work is killling me right now. I got 3 days off between jobs this time. But my Uncle just sent me some pics of the front end test fit together. This is the first time ive seen all the parts together. My jaw dropped i think the car looks wicked. Here ya go

Man, I LOVE the way the bumpers are made!!!! Put Keystone classics on that baby!, Naaa, you need to put on what you want, im a nut with the looks of the Keystones but i do love the Torque Thrusts also lol, go with your plan, ya cant loose!!! Looking at the last picture there, i do not think you could go wrong with the wheels on her! Just don't change the bumper locations, thats unreal beautiful :)

That spoiler looks great on there! MarPar turned me on to those Old Schools for my own ride. Came withing inches of buying them after seeing this:

I'm sure the'd look great on yours.

This is only my opinion so take it for what it's worth but I think the Year One 17" Rallye's are absolutely made for your Gen Car as well as Dusters Demons! I also think you could clean up and add the ring to your stock Rallye's and they would look good too!

I don't mind the Old School's but you gotta pick what's right for you and I think opinions would very more dramatically on those

I'm sure whatever wheels you put on it, whether for show or go will look good.

I'm going with 17's on my car that look very much like that. Of course I'm going Pro-touring. Awesome progress so far. I'm loving the tucked bumpers and the front chin spoiler.

The car is looking great, I like the gauges and the added A/F gauge "I need one". As far as wheels go I'll be honest, I don't like any of the torque thrust style wheels in the larger diameters unless it's on hot rods (just don't look right unless there 15s). I really like the USB port idea too, I mostly use an I Pod for my music so that would be nice. Looking good

Thanks for the kind words guys!

Still a toss up on the wheels, that charger looks awesome prop! but ive been obsessed with the 17" rallyes since I saw them..

747 i mostly used my ipod too but now i mostly use a thumb drive full of music plugged into the stereo, no dead battery, no skipping holds a ton of music its pretty cool.

So we test fit the rear bumper looks AWESOME!

And my uncle wanted to change the front bumper a bit, he continued the body line from the bummper into the hump that he added, here it is roughed in.

front new body line.jpg

While he was doing that i finished rebuilding that demon carb and installed it. Runs great now! Really want to see how the car pulls now. Engine gonna need a major clean up covered in dust from the body work.

What is so cool about this build is that you will see this car somewhere and think, nice Road Runner. Then, you will notice the scoop, or the bumpers, or the exhaust, or....
The closer you look, the more subtle changes you see. VERY nice work. This is looking incredible, even without final paint.

The bumper looks way more then awesome man! Very cool work you guys have done! Your uncle must be a master fabricator....

Hey guys been a while since I've been on. Few things have been happening, finally doing the blocking on the car should be done this week. Met with the painter yesterday and he should be stopping by today to take a look at it and give me an estimate.

I also installed the dynamat on the floor and trunk of my car. Impressed with it so far! But does anyone have tips for doing the roof?? We have some major hot days her in the summer (110-115) on the regular. Im worried about the heat causing the dynamat to come unstuck and fall down on the head liner. What do you all recommend? Also i just got back from dropping of my trim to get powdercoated black and dropped my seats at the upholsters to repair a few panels on the front and get a skin made so that the backseat will match the front. Super excited to see how it turns out! But my wallet is gonna spontaneously combust!!:fit:

Amazing! Truly Unreal how they do that! Man, If a guy couldn't find a grill for his car you could fabricate one and do something like this and have something special, I was going to say and rims to match but that could maybe be going to far, possibility's are endless though!!! Thanks for sharing this :)
