I'm messing with my emissions system trying to return it to stock and get everything working. I'm temporarily out of my "boy racer" stage and have embraced my inner enviro-geek. I'll wake up in a year or so and starting fretting about compression again.

I have almost everything back together and am wondering... did ALL 1975 400 4bbls have an EGR? I have no spot on my intake manifold (according to the FSM) but I have a couple of thin vacuum hoses that are part of the EGR system. I even have a control module on the fire wall.

I suppose that someone could have swapped the intake but I'm betting against it; everything is on the intake an appears un molested.

Thanks!

All I can remember about the emissions back then, was that the government made it mandatory for all of the manufacturers to have the emmision systems in place by 1974. Now for some reason, Chrysler needed more time and they talked the government into one more year, 1975.
Now my question would be, did all '75s have egr valves and pollution pumps?
Does your engine have a pump? Is your car a unleaded gas model? Small gas tank filler or large? You got me thinking here...

does the under hood vacuum hose diagram sticker show the ER valve in it? I bet the intake was changed....Chrysler would not install all of the required EGR stuff and then just not put the valve on the intake

My 74 Road Runner had EGR on it so I am betting it should have been on your 75 . Non EGR manifolds (OEM) would have been plentiful back in the day. ERG should be adjacent to the carb (passenger side I would think). I don't think it would have had an AIR pump on it unless it had the 'California Emissions' package. Unleaded wasn't started until 1976 and even then, some cars could be optioned without cats - usually would get the AIR pump instead of the cat.

No air pump and the gas filler tube is "Big" and without the smaller leaded fitting.

The car was build early---October

!974. It was early in the cycle with a 129947 for the VIN number. Could it have missed the 75 calendar year? or was it a skip on the model year?

Car runs great. I'm doing an internal struggle right now with replacing the mechanical advance only dizzy with a dizzy with a vacuum and hooking it to the OSAC valve. I'm not sure it will make a big difference one way or the other. I guess the interest to me is putting it back mostly stock.

*See if you can find your casting number here.
They were making manifolds with egr as early as 1973...

400 4bbl 75-76 3830949-- thanks for the numbers

I checked my numbers this morning (Rainy day in Ft Worth)

I did check and there is a plate with two bolts UNDER the carb throttle linkage. I cant see that there would be enough room for a EGR valve, but you never know. The FSM shows a spot for the ERG valve on the manifold near the #1,3 cylinders.

Huh.....

You probably have the last or one of the last cars made w/o egr.... California cars were a different animal... but the rest were more or less the same deal.

Thats a egr block off plate if i remember my 76 cordoba had the block off plate and non catalyst but had air injection which i got rid of quick , Some engines got em some didnt i have taken a few of these plates off of cars at the JY and used them on other cars i had ,
