Hello,

I intend on going with a Pertronix 3 setup, but should I rebuild this distributor (and drop the Pertronix in it) or go with a new and shiny one altogether? Can you identify this one?

No stamped identifying marks.

Picking your brains and thanks!!!

I like the Pertronix systems, They have always worked flawlessly for me. Need to make sure you use the correct coil and resistor set up. Check the bearings in your distributor for side play. If it's okay, I see no reason why you shouldn't use it. I like the original/ stealth look.

X2 68chicken. I also like the stealth look of the Pertronix. I had the Pertronix 1 in my Polara for 3 years and when I did my motor swap this spring I upgraded to the Pertronix 3 module because i wanted the rev limiter. This is the 3rd car I have had with Pertronix and the only issue I had was with their epoxy filled coil going bad after a few years. Just follow the coil recommendations and the wiring diagram. Good luck.

Thanks for the advice, and now any referrals for distributor rebuilders who can also drop and tune a Pertronix unit in it???

Can you say, Do It Yourself?

Gladly!!! Is there an instruction guide or a book? I'm sure getting the needed parts together (Pertronix, bushings, new vacuum advance) aren't a problem. But the inspection and setting the advance curve might be a shot in the dark with no reference or past learning.

Thanks!
