I've quite a few pictures already. These are Parts Car Fenders I would be buying, And not in pristine shape by any means.

Kind of worried that the Seller only has 1 Post on here so far.
Normally I would not buy from someone with so little posts and no feedback, But I really need these...

Don't use the Gift option when paying with PayPal. If you do, you aren't able to use buyer protection.
 
Well,
I'm very close to closing a deal on much needed parts and wanting to get excited.
But... Of course when the opportunity finally pops up, An unexpected drain on funds occurs and complicates things. Sigh.
I'm also very nervous about the amount of money involved for an online transaction of this size.

Has anyone ever had a Pallet shipped to their residence?
If so, Do they (The shipper) have the provisions to get the pallet off their truck and on your property?

Try fasntenal .. build the pallet at their store or most stores have a forklift.

Look them up online and deal with the 3rd party shipping folks to set it up, not your local store.

when deal is setup they inform your local store and you drop it off .. call them to see if they have a forklift

My dad and I bought a 1957 Austin Healey 100-6 (early 3000). it had been sitting in a carport in GA, out of the rain, since 1968. the old man had passed away, and the widow sold us the healey and my buddy the Porsche 356 that was in there next to it. (it was my buddy that had found the cars, as he was a family friend). The trunk was a treasure trove of stuff. a map of Atlanta from 1960, issues of "Aquarium" magazine in perfect shape from 1967, a pair of flight deck coveralls, a very jaunty plaid driving cap, a holster (but no gun), an SCCA membership book from 1960, flares (that were leaking nitro), oil cans, a really cool german made tire gauge...it was so awesome....

I keep hoping that one of these days i'll find a suitcase full of money.

I got a '68 Fury convertible in trade where the guy who had it never opened the trunk in 6 years of owning it. it still had it's certicard, and in the trunk was a cooler...it had sunglasses, a harmonica, a pair of vintage red chuck taylors. There was also a plastic garbage bag full of moldy clothes....ewwww...

some trucks have a liftgate. Most don't. Agree with the fastenal. If there';s one in your area, it's cheaper to have stuff delivered to a business.

I guess you could call it guessing but any company that deals with delivering such things using pallets that have to be unloaded when delivered would definitely have the equipment to make sure it can be done once they get to delivery point. I would call and make sure but it seems like they would...
 
Well,
As much as I would like (Need) the above mentioned "Freight" deal to work, I'm having too many doubts.
Seller is so vague with any answers. I've got tons of pictures of the items and a quick "Background Check" online seems to check out fine.
But When I NEED to know and REQUEST Standard Important Shipping Details and only get "Should" and "Probably" for answers, It's concerning.

Is there anyone in Idaho that might be willing to check on the parts for Me, and make sure all is legit? I assume not, But doesn't hurt to ask.

As for the prior lift gate question~
I was sitting at a red light next to one of the trucks from the freight company, And it did not look like it had one.
The only answers I've gotten from the seller are "They deliver to us without a lift or anything. Unfortunately it's hit and miss" and "There shouldn't be any issues. They usually help lift it out".

I've now contacted them directly, Just waiting for a reply.

I dunno, I feel like I should just up and back out like any normal person would. But the need for the parts seems to be making me a risk taker...

I had a windshield assembly delivered for my Corvette - it was on a pallet. FedEx Freight delivered it and they had a lift gate, but most FedEx trucks don't. What I am trying to say is that you probably can't judge the freight company based on one of their trucks. Only the trucks intended for final deliveries would have them, and only those intended for heavier stuff.

Either way, good to contact the freight company directly...

If nothing else you could unload the parts piece by piece off the truck.
 
Good luck with the build. Try posting a thread in the "wanted" section for cars and car parts. I agree it is safer to deal with more well known members than is is to deal with someone who joined just to "sell" his parts. It it comes to it, go with Reman fenders.

Still have not heard back from them... And Seller isnt assuring me of anything nor even seems to be looking into it? Which is bugging me.
*UPDATE: Seller says he is finally going to check in with the shipper and get back to me.

Good point. I just don't want to hold up the driver or cause any problems. I like to be prepared for whats going to happen when at all possible.

There is a 1970 Dodge Truck with a 383 in the Lynnwood Pick n Pull. Possibly low miles as the mileage was showing at 060k.

don't sweat holding the driver up Dad used to drive truck, and sometimes he'd be stuck for four hours waiting to get unload in a steel mill. There's a guy on mopart with a '70 fender....passenger side I think, wants $100 for it.
 
I agree with putting any part you may need in the forum here, There is a lot of guys who don't even post unless there selling OR see someone looking for certain parts, I found a couple like that and i live fairly close to a guy who does sell certain parts, any parts he has, I can hook you up with him and his email if wanted, just PM me and ill give it to you as he has already told me there is no problem for any looking for things, I cant promise he will have all what you need but its worth a shot.

Well it looks like things are starting to move forward with the parts deal. Seller finally says he has them secured to a pallet, And will stop by the shipper to get all the details for me.

The 383/440 is more of a want than a need. But I'm also being picky in that I want a car engine from 1969 or 1970.

What's killing me now is there is that there is a 440 at the local wrecker, And I can't think of anyway to get it out and then in our van.
I got quoted $300 for labor alone from a "Parts Puller".
Anyone have any Ideas? Yard workers just said "Get a bunch of guys and carry it out". Heh.

see what teh yard would want for the whole car...then you could rescrap it and get some $$ back.
 
Engine has to be all together to get the best deal, And I will mostly be doing the work myself.

I cannot have any more vehicles on the property. And once they are set in the yard they wont sell it whole anyway.

It's really eating at me. Only feasible thing I can come up with is:
Take my hoist apart so it fits in the our Astro Van>
At the yard~
Get the engine on a yard crane and find someone to help me move it out to the parking lot>
Pay>
Move to the van>
Assemble engine hoist, And use it to move engine into van>
Dis-Assemble hoist and try to shove it back in the van along with the engine>
Then CAREFULLY drive 5 minutes home.

This would all be so much easier if I had a truck and someone actually willing to help...
My Father (Due to health issues) cannot do much lifting, And people tend to get scared off when you mention moving 700lbs at junkyard. Sigh.

I've only heard back from 2 parts pullers, One wants $300 labor, The other doesn't do engines or trannies. I've now contacted both to see how much to just get the thing home.

Welcome to any other ideas and suggestions.

JDB, I wish i could offer a little more help then good luck but your a long way away! I understand your frustration trying to get help as im going thru it hear, not so much car stuff as other things i need done that do to health problems i cant do anymore, something i never thought i would have to say, I do wish you luck and hope it works out good for you, once you get things moved you'll be ok!

i would think the yard itself could pull it out if you get it ready It might take a little more time then you want but maybe an ad in your local paper asking for help delivering it....
