1970 mopar was good by 78 it was completely gone and and now it's really bad.... just get the old cores 're done and/ or take you're chances on new stuff..... it's disappointing but it is the way to keep people in New cars and good parts for reasonable price doesn't do that.... don't forget this is a corporate company based in Germany...

Wrong.

That's SO 2010....

And before that, it was a "corporate company" based where? And before that, and before that....

You really have to think things through! All these companies want to do is make money. Why did the companies make new models? Simple... so consumers would buy them.... end result... company makes money! Chrysler doesn't care about the Hemi, Ford doesn't care about the Mustang,GM doesn't care about the Corvette, Camaro....All they ever cared about was selling something to someone and making money!!!!The New Chrysler, which is actually based in Italy, not Germany, BTW, doesn't give a rats *** about the Hellcat, just because some gearhead would think thats a nice car, They are building the Hellcat because they figure there are enough of us that will buy them so that they can make "MONEY"

I love mopar...67 mopar.... a'71 is too new.... Italy... good to know... what I think happens is people still follow the brand name... it's not my grandfather's mopar or political parties anymore either...

sleepar,
I agree with YY1 AND satman72.

Do your self a favor and check out the 60 minutes interview with Chrysler/FIATs CEO "Sergio Marchionne"

Chrysler's Sergio Marchionne says turning around the automaker was a long shot auto CEOs would not have touched "with a 10-foot pole." Watch Steve Kroft's report on Sunday, March 25 at 2012.

I don't know if I agree with that entirely. Yeah, the company exists to make money, but Ralph Gilles for instance is a real car guy. Maybe the only one there, but a good one to have. He didnt just show up at Carlisle to do a burn out , say a few words and go jump on a private jet. He enjoys the weekend, talks with people and is genuinely into cars. And when I say talks to people, he isn't roped off signing autographs, he goes out and talks to people for a half an hour or more. He wants to be there. He wants to be a part of the event.

I get that. Of course there are people who like cars as we all do. But my point is, that none of these companies exist just because they like cars. They exist to make money. No matter how much we like the products that any company makes, they do what they do to make money.

Great their having a turn around .... that'd doesn't matter if there inventory was made while there going under.... they will focus on the new stuff and anything from mound road is long been sold... from junking you could find parts left over in the trucks made in the late 70's and early 80's that were repurposed from late 60's early 70's... all the good stuff for our cars.... then it may take some years for the last of the good stuff to filter through.... now eBay is the last haven for NOS... every time it gets remanufactured and that process gets cheaper the quality goes with it.... all our parts are rare becoming obsolete.... I'm just hoping to get the car retrofitted to run on the recent junk available saving my originals because I'd rather put miles on them.... I feel better with running junk with a stock pile of parts than the last carb or alternator or ??? I can find to run it on.... this is all new to be on line buying blind through the mail...

Absolutely. We all do

My wife and I started a business years ago that I didn't particularly like but it made decent money. It was a furniture store sales/rentals and even though I made some pieces over the years, I'm not a furniture guy.....I'm a car guy and I paid the price for even thinking about getting into the furniture business. Yeah, there are a lot of people in the business that don't give a rats *** about cars but there are still a lot of people in the business that are car guys. Now the old CEO (Bob Nardelli) was not a car guy one bit and was even named as one of the 'worst American CEO's of all time" by CNBC and to tell you the truth, I'm glad to see him gone and rather have Sergio over Chrysler than Butthead Bob!! As least he's a car guy. Even Bob Lutz was better than BB....but I wish Chrysler had stay in this country....

RIGHT ON! I prefer to look at the other side and say that the consumer (you and me) is the one with the money and the consumer decides what is good and what is junk.

Not mentioned anywhere is the Fiat withdrew from North America years age because consumers thought their stuff was junk and wouldn't buy its product. The Fiat rescue of Chrysler provided Fiat with a ready made distribution market. I see a lot of Fiat 500's around and every time I see one I think there is someone that didn't buy a Honda or Toyota.
Buying Fiat 500's means that they are also looking at the other products on the floor as well i.e. it is increasing floor traffic for other Chrysler products. It seems to be a good fit for both Fiat and Chrysler.

Chrysler's sales number are up. The consumer is saying loud and clear - WE LIKE IT.

That's where is goes wrong... is all about money yes I understand... if they were into making quality the money would follow and they would make more.... like America used to when we were strong... Americans couldn't keep up with the "just in time" manufacturing and quality control like in Asia... they don't ship bad parts they sort that out in house because recalls are expensive and they are more efficient... and Henry Ford would be proud of the Asian innovations... the rest of the world loves America because we will buy anything and quality doesn't matter so we get all the junk that other countries won't accept... They rather make on the expense of Americans than make wealth along with the people... they would have made more if the country is strong.. but the powers that be are not Americans and the benefit from a weak America that way the rest of the world can compete in the world market.. Europe would all look like pheasants if America kept its industrial strength... old money in Europe needs a poor America to stay a float... these are 500 and 100 year plans.... not something one presidential campaign can change... no one buys American here but most importantly over there... and if American products are desired there made any where but here... our military fights for there cause... our congress is for their cause etc.... our media smooths out the ripples again for the cause and the money that comes with it because they don't sell papers... and like the auto industry still desire the money if they were.... somehow they have convinced the people that were a tiny country with out resources or skills and need all these imports an we follow the trends rather than lead... it was only 100 years ago.....

We fight a 20 year war in the middle east for oil... because we don't have any here... just imagine how ritch Texas would have been if we didn't need there oil... but we would rather spoil our fishing grounds with it and have to buy seafood from the Pacific northwest because no one but Americans war it because of the nuclear disaster... we have and have had more resources than the Roman empire had and they lasted for thousands of years we lasted hundreds... who are we saving it for...

Me Too!!! I am genuinely concerned about this guy and his ramblings. Is it me or is it something else? He seems really incoherent pining for something in the past that is forever gone....I have to go back and re-read 99% of his posts as they don't make any sense?????

I think Sleepar talks just to hear himself talk! Is anyone listening?

True the past is gone.... I accept it... I just don't like where it's leading up to.

Someday it will..... it hasn't gotten real heavy yet... wait till you can't buy shoes or clothes let alone quality parts... the toys go first... then everything will follow...

So tell me this Sleepar...are you prepared for the inevitability as you say will come about? What have you done to prepare yourself and family for that demise. Got Gold? Got Silver? Got Food put away? Got Lead and the means to use it? Got a bug out plan in place? Do you systematically keep adding to those resources because you can never have enough. My toy will go yes but that is just the point here isn't it. It is just a toy. Money is already spent on it that I will never get back anyway. Besides, everything is a "DIRT" anyway....
