Just bought 72 Satellite Wagon Regent

Nice wagon. Even like the butterscotch color. Your well on your way to having a real sleeper. Any plans for the engine???

no plans yet for the engine because the car is so original. but it is defiantly not the original engine so if I ever hit the lottery, a HEMI swap is definitely on the table! :hello2:

Interesting.

I wasn't aware there was supposed to be anything covering the "tire well".

I thought 3rd seat passengers used that for their feet.

There was matching carpet there before but it was dry rotted... the spare tire well is actually on the side right below the right rear glass.

Yep, but that round well under the third seat is the spare tire well on 66/67 cars.

That and the 66/67 style gas tank were retained on wagons even though 2D and 4D cars got different gas tanks from 68 and up.

I don't think mine has any provision for a cover over the well.

Is yours hinged?

I think that would make for a cramped foot placement for those folks.

Where'd you get the carpet? My 73 Coronet wagon doesn't have it back there.

Just noticed the front plate.... GO JACKETS!

I'm a Jacket too.

I got it from stock interiors. I bought the padding but did't use it. I just used double sided carpet tape from Home Depot (Not the expensive 3M double sided tape). Shipping was a bit pricy at $28. But they were pretty good about sending me swatches so I could match up carpet to my original.

Damn nice wagon! Thanks for buffing it out and saving it.

Thanks! yeah, it was definitely very close to the salvage or scrap metal yard when we found it.

The third row floor is deep, it's not used for a spare tire, the spare tire is off to the right side rear glass inside the plastic side panel. So what you see in the picture is a deep well that I had to mold the carpet into. it was not too bad but there are creases in the carpet but they are all under the seat bottom so you can't see them until you look under the seat. I think the confusion starts from the fact that my picture with the carpet was taken at night and the flash makes it look like a flat floor. Here are better pictures including the side spare tire well.

notice the deep well, no cover.

Aha, you did carpet the well.

I might have to do that to mine.

Love your wagon!! Keep it up, and more pictures.

I recently picked up a 64 Savoy wagon. I can relate to all of this.

yeah, there was carpet there before but it was all dry rotted and from all indications it was the original carpet. I bought the matching carpet over a year ago but it sat in the box in my basement while I procrastinated. I thought pulling the seat out was going to be a nightmare but as most things turn out, it was a lot easier then we expected. just the bottom part of the seat needed to be removed to gain access to the entire floor and back of the seat.

carpet was pretty cheap but the shipping was almost as much as the carpet.

good luck with yours!

Thanks! yeah hard to figure what to do next but have to refrain from overdoing it. Right now, our priority is to stop the rain water from getting into the back and ruining that new carpet. We thought we had it all fixed but found a nice puddle this morning! :(

Found this roll over at the local wrecker. It's been there a while. Not much left, but are you looking for anything in particular? Good thing you don't need a radio... I took it for my 71.
