I have a floor jack and need to lift just one wheel (or corner) at a time. So I don't want to lift at the center of the rear axle or k frame because I'm not putting it on stands and no I don't want to use the bumper jack.

Where are the best spots? I'm afraid I'll bend something.

pics would be a great help if you got em

Don't use a bumper jack, ever, whilst working on or under a car. Ever. Only for changing a tyre when you have absolutely no other choice i.e. flat tyre in middle of a desert and vultures are circling above.

If I'm just lifting a front wheel to remove it or do brakes, I'd lift under the LCA.

If I'm just lifting a rear wheel to remove it or do brakes, I lift under the shocker mounting plate.

Nothing wrong with lifting at k member and doing both fronts and lifting at diff center and doing both rear, but yeah, if I were going under, I'd use stands or jacks too under the frame rails.

I would never lift just one corner from the frame rail as it twists the **** out of the car.

I bought 4 inexpensive bottle jacks as well as a trolley jack and together they do all I need.

pardon my ignorance, but what is the LCA? Lower Control Arm?

yes lower control arm...and if you put it on a jack stand don't take all the pressure of the jack...watch you fender/door lines up high, look for movement there.

Normally, I jack the car using the frame rails, Use the straight bit as close as to the front wheel as possible, or as close as to the rear wheel as possible.

Cradle front and Dana rear for me even if I need just one wheel. Jack stand of course if underneath. I too leave the floor jack in position to not stress frame rails.
