How tight are tires going to be with these wheels?

Remember that things will move a little bit in turns, especially with a bit of suspension travel (in other words, a bump in a turn...). Hope it works for you, but I wouldn't declare victory until you have driven it.

I jumped around on the bumper and I couldn't get the tire or rim to touch. I might have to dent or cut out an area for lateral movement or when the car is loaded down, but it's not as impossibly tight as I was afraid of. If I have to bang or cut some stuff out, it's not going to be drastic work and then still a wing and a prayer or anything.

And thanks, I wasn't sure how these would translate to my car's body but they look even cooler than I hoped. I'm glad I can step into real performance tires while keeping some real Mopar steel as part of the equation.
 
Finally got my tires yesterday (8 days from LA to Seattle)

I took it out for a drive today and was pleasantly surprised. I only went around town (45-50 tops) but no contact in the rear at all, including going in and out of driveways. The fronts look like they may touch the top of the fender at full lock under compression, but I had a similar issue with my old tires that were about an inch taller and never really encountered it that often at all.

Even though these wheels are 38 pounds bare and probably in the 60s with tires on (skinnies weigh half that easily), the ride isn't really that much different and it seems to brake about the same. I need to balance my rear drum adjustments and get a residual pressure valve in before I try "real" braking again. I do have better road feel than before for sure. I'm sure my ride will be better once I get my rear Fox/Hotchkis shocks on (reaching the top nuts is a PITA).

I rolled the fender lips up to give better clearance for the rim face and I can't quite fit my hand in between the fender opening and the tire. Tomorrow I'll be able to take it out on longer sweepers without traffic and see what's what under cornering loads, but it's perfectly fine for chuggin' around right now.
 
I am really suprised that you don't have any tire bulge. In this pic you can kind of tell that I have about 1/2 an inch of tire bulge with my 18's.

I rolled about 10 inches of the fender lip up about 50 degrees and I don't even need to mess with the fenderwell for this tire (too-short 255/40). The 255/45 I was planning on should only require a dent at most.

Lol you sure cut it close! Looks bitching though.

Well, I picked this width because 255mm is almost exactly 10 inches. The inside width (bead to bead) of these wheels is 10 inches and rim-to-rim it's more like 11. The 255/40 test tire was kind of a half-guess; I wasn't expecting it to be so stretchy-sidewall.

I figured if the wheels just barely fit, if I picked a tire effectively slightly narrower than the absolute width of the wheels, I wouldn't lose any clearance.

Though if those 18s are 18x10s with 255s then I guess I'm some kind of tire magician.

LOL I know it, I still have my little mini grinder I bought from Harbor Freight just for this project in case I end up touching the fenderwells on harder cornering. It looks rad and I can really feel how much more fun this car's going to be the more I put into the suspension. I wish my welding friends weren't all boogerblasting hacks or I'd have frame connectors in already.
 
I like the stretch look. Really growing to like the 370z. But, I grew up with both generations of cars.

Okay so I'm not totally out of the woods with tire clearance. I'll touch the sidewall to the fenderwell (only on the driver's side - been twistin' up them springs) over big speed bumps or abrupt driveways. Luckily now I have a nice mark in the dirt under there to show me where the problem is :) I'll report back if denting with the help of a heat gun actually works or not.
 
As long as to doesn't rub through the sweep of the tire you're good... I just had to look at the wagon again...
 
I might, I'm not sure what I like yet. Having the bare wheels with chrome lugs is kind of the nouveau-cool thing to do, but it has kind of a cop-car-ish look to it with the caps which is also cool. I think I'll put the caps on for practical protection when it gets rainy in several weeks and see if I want to keep them on later.

These are 18x9.5 rim with a 285/35/18 tire.
