Thought I'd post a few pic's of the MOPAR's that attended last nights cruise-in at The Jimmy Cone ice cream stand in Mount Airy, Maryland. They do this twice a month here throughout the summer and it usually draws some very nice cars.... The green '70 Shaker Cuda is mine.

Hi Hemi,

Yes, and yes. Do you know Larry? Are you familiar with the history of the car?

I haven't seen Larry since I bought the car from him many years ago. He told me that he and his family raced quite a bit, and one of the reasons that he decided to sell it was that he lost all interest after his dad passed. My understanding from DMV records is that the car has been in Maryland it's whole 'life', and was originally sold at the dealership in Glen Burnie that is now Tate Dodge.

Well, it was a father son restoration project that they completed just before his dad died. I remember it had 39k and change on the odometer. Green with green interior. It was apparently rare color combo so they left it that way. There is a little more to the story surrounding the decision to sell. I wont air it out here

Your memory of the mileage from back then is correct, and I haven't put too many miles on it since I've had it. The few times I took it to Carlisle and Ocean City I trailered it...... Since the car spent time at the track and wasn't apparently outside much during the winters here, I've always wondered if the mileage was JUST 39k or 139,000?

When I got the car from Larry, the interior was all there but it had been dyed the wrong color and looked horrible. If I'm not mistaken, Larry was in the process of trying to get the guy who did that for/to him to correct it when his dad passed. There is also a 2" diameter hole on the top of the passenger side quarter where someone had installed a Challenger style fuel cap and a fuel line that went to a fuel cell they had bolted into the trunk. I removed that and have the hole covered with a flat cap that I painted F8 green.

Fixing the interior color and installing that cap is pretty much all I've done to it since I've owned it. But the car is starting to show it's age again and it needs some work. I'd like to weld that hole shut and fix a few rust problems in several places on the body at the same time. The motor runs pretty good and I'm running the dual point dist. vs. electronic ignition. But I'd like to pull it and have it gone through. The car isn't numbers matching, but it's a real 440/6 pak car with a 440/6 engine that Larry said he bought out in Ohio.

While negiotiating with Larry for the car, he seemed very concerned that the new owner would be somebody who would care for it and not 'flip it' as soon as he parted with it. I know that it was difficult for Larry to sell the car under the circumstances, but if I ran into Larry today I'd like to think that he'd be happy that he sold it to me.

Yeah. I remember the flip top gas cap. It looks great in the pictures. If I happen to run In to him I will let him know its being well cared for and you still have it and didnt flip it.
I remember him going on about the interior. I thought it was all from legendary. He was pretty confident the mileage was correct at 39k

Thanks. I'd appreciate it if you would give him that message if you run into him.

The seat covers were from Legendary, and they were just fine and so was the carpet and the headliner. It was the hard plastic items like the door panels, seat backs, and console that he had dyed by somebody that got the color wrong. The dash still needed to be redone too when I bought it, and I sent that out to a company in Calif. who used my original core and applied new padding material to it. They did a real nice job. It was pricey, but it still looks great today.

I keep seeing this on craigslist for a while now. I know he is from sykesville. I cant help but think this is him. Going to post this over in the for sale section too.

Yes, it sure sounds like the same Larry who's selling this Cuda. When I bought the '70 from him, it was being stored at his mom's house in Finksburg. None of the photo's in the Craigslist link look familiar so I'm assuming that this current car he has for sale is being kept someplace else.
