Hey guys, I just found a 1967 Dodge Coronet with a 318 automatic on Craigslist. The guy said it was a barn find and it looks like it from the pic. There's only 2 pictures of it but I'm gonna go look at it today. He is asking $5500 for it. Do you all think thats a pretty good deal? He said on the phone there was hardly any rust on it and the rear quarters looked good from the pics. It may be a silly question but I'm asking it anyway lol. Let me know what you think and I will send more pictures when I can. Thanks a lot.

Without pics, it's hard to say and even with pics, it's not exactly easy.....but around here, it has to be pretty decent to bring 5500.

What Cranky said X2

If is is good I think that would be a fair price.

What are you plans for the car?

Hardly any rust....
Be careful!
You know what can happen with an eBay purchase..."Buyer Beware"

I'm glad your going to see it in person.
Always try to get "eyes on the ground", another words try to have a reputable individual look at the car first hand.
It's your best insurance against fraud and a bad experience.

Must be, looks more like a bondo bucket than a barn find. I'd be careful. Could be worth a look if the interior is nice.

The interior, suspension and frame needs to be looked at.
Is it buckets seats and console or bench. If you are looking to upgrade for speed I would pass on the 318.

I purchased a 66 satellite a few years ago. Had a 69 383, black bucket seats with console all the interior was completely redone, very little rust, but paint job sucked, had to do a rewire and suspension upgrade. I figured the interior work was worth about $1500. Paid $7500 which I thought was a little high. But I love these body styles.

In the end its worth what you want to pay for it.

To me that seems a little high. But EVERYTHING depends on what you find when you see it and kick the tires. Solid body, good interior and so forth it's probably worth it. Really depends on how much $ and work you're going to have to put into it to get the car to where you want it. Good luck!

and crawl under it and take a good look at the frames and the floors.

I took a few pictures of it. First of all it's a bench seat car, auto on column. The floors are in great shape. The spare tire area is in great shape. Quarters are straight. No rust in quarters. No bondo as I can tell. It has a 318 with 360 heads and small cam. Rockers are in good shape, no rust. He said it has been inside most of it's life. It was once a drag car but the original motor was reinstalled. The guy has known the car for the last 25 years. I plan on tuning it up and working on the brakes, seat covers and driving it for a while. Have fun with it. Haven't had a muscle car in a lot of years. I went ahead and bought it for a little less than he was asking so when I get it home I'll take some pictures.

With the body in that shape sounds like you made a good find. I expected you to find a lot of rust coming from the inside. Congrats! Good luck and enjoy!

sounds like you're way ahead of the game as for the rust. congrats on the buy, and have fun with it:hello2:

How are the welds between the roof and quarters?

Look closely at the frame rails between the shock towers and the firewall.
Follow them all the way past the trans cross member and t bar mounts.

Those are some kind of common areas that take lots of time and money to fix.

That looks like about a $3000-$3500 car to me.

The add is gone, but based on the information given, and the picture above, I would say $4,000.00 tops.

Thanks for all the advice so far. Just got it home today but too late to take some pictures. I'll take YY1's advice and check out those areas.

I did have a much better look underneath and at least there is no rust in the floor pans. It was still sitting on the trailer I hauled it home on.

I took a big magnet to all those spots and the magnet stuck everywhere. What a relief! Still need to get it on jack stands for more pics. Here's a few I took this morning.
