Way Too Much probably & still not done, I'm guessing realistically $15k {maybe $20k} over the past almost 9 years now...

I still want & will eventually spend even more $$$...LOL...
I'm kind of afraid to add up all the receipts... still have parts on the shelf too
I've built 2- 383/479ci stroker engines, 2 different sets of ported alum heads
& actually sold one engine & a set of the heads, I originally bought 2 of everything,
I had 2- 68 RR's I was doing at once, sold the racecar & then
a few things, that I've changed my course on with this car too, "long story",
I can see another $5k in the rear of the car still,
that would bring it into the $20k range probably including the purchase...

It'll be done someday, I'll probably never sell it either, still haven't got it to my vision,
but there's way too many other things going on right now...

That's for all five cars plus four parts cars and a brand new Legendary interior.

I claimed 10K because I've also sold one of the parts cars, scrapped one, sold about $2500 in parts since I started about 10 years ago, and reclaimed a few parts from the parts cars that I would have otherwise had to buy.

1966 Coronet 383 car super solid and original- back burnered pending funds for the more intensive resto it deserves.
1974 Charger 318 basket case but loaded and still selling parts plus using parts on other projects (scrapped shell)
1973 Charger 318 nearly basket case- stripped and sold as roller, still selling parts from hoard of PO.
1986 5th Ave parts car 318 roller motor, disk brakes and is still giving up parts- Got $15 worth of fasteners last week.
1972 Charger 400-4 high optioned car with solid unibody and super crappy sheet metal- Back burnered.
1973 Satellite 318 low original miles, beautiful quarters- down pending freeze plug replacement.
1980 D150 stepside 440 and 833 o/d- donor drivetrain but will be a body work practice vehicle. Nice bed.
1986 D150 fleetside- 225 833 o/d parts truck for trans and parts to keep 1980 running.
1967 Belvedere wagon- 318 and factory a/c- might be a keeper as alternative to modern SUV.

All for 10K, plus I still have unrealized value in parts and scrap.

Can I shop for value or what :)

...and I tell my wife every time I get a good deal!
 
This thread made me tally everything up that I've spent on Scar so far (So thanks for that headache lol). $7129.60 to date not including tools. I don't even want to go there. :eusa_doh:
 
30,000 plus.. I have combed through the internet for parts and backup parts... I have doubles of most everything... but a 100% remanufactured car costs that... I started with a running and driving car so I basically bought all my cores and stock parts... the new wearable items less the body is where the money is and a few thousand in aftermarket racing stuff... having extra tail lenzes and new interior every gasket seal insulation hose wire mount plastic piece bearing and cable... the paints and chemicals the papers... the disposal the shipping the shop rental the... cost of the tools and machine shop service... I know my labor even at minimum wage adds up to more than a 4 door sedan is worth... but its my 4door how I like it from an evolution of my 30 years in the game... used to be cheap when you had endless junk to pick and old cars were everywhere get paid to take it and open up the yard... anyone remember getting paid to haul off junk cars... some would be so happy to get the junk and mosquitos gone they would help load you up on top of that...
 
Out of all the wasteful decisions I have made in life I would have to say this on tops them all.
 
Some people like to go on family vacations or go on cruises. I just assume spend my disposable income on cars.

Right now i'm into mine for about $7500, but that's not including the paint. And I've still got to get the "little" things.
 
let's just say that 20 years ago I would have done just about ANYTHING to have 1/5th of the amount I have spent on my build!
 
I just put a little more to my new project, it cost me $48.95 to attach rear springs to rail (shackles @ bushings to spring perches)!!! Not bad this go around but what some forget ive found out talking with them is it ALL adds up, even a new tool to do something different we need... And i know tools can be used over again some day, but we sometimes buy them just to do what were working on at the present time and i think that has to go into the equation as well as body parts or primer/paint... MOHO
 
I'm into mine for 30k +. I have all the receipts. Maybe about 8k of that is labor. Most of the work was done myself so mostly parts from frame rails on up. The only piece of original sheet metal on my car is the roof!

I am just glad I became an auto tech and made it my career so I could do all my own work as I barley have the money to buy my parts. I would never have my Mopars if I had to pay someone to do my work. And this way if it runs good or bad I can only blame myself. Ron

I started adding up my receipts last year and scared myself. I quit adding and am scared to start back. I keep my receipt book buried in a box behind my shop so the better half won't find it.

More to come this winter. All that money spent to get the car together and now I'm taking it all apart. At least I'll have a lot of spare parts to build another.
 
If I added up what I have into my 2 rides and my wife saw this thread I'd be single again...........Hmmmmmm..........anyone seen my calculator.......:argue:
