1966 Hand Me Down Charger

Thanks everyone for your kind words. Yes the doors are the same. I wonder if the door glass is the same? I want to see if the headlights still rotate or if they are froze. Anyone know how to jump them. With the exception of the headliner and drivers seat the interior is just dirty. Need windshield too.

door glass is the same. when I swapped doors, I did the complete doors, glass and all.

I have a pair of engines over in Wisconsin I was wanting to sell for 400$... One is a 63 361, and the other is a 71 400. Wanting 400 for the pair. 400 is supposed to be a runner.... Looks REALLY clean inside. shoot me an email for pics. [email protected]

Great deal on the engines! Wish you were closer. If anyone out there can point me in the right direction on quarter panel patches and everything else I need cheap I would be very greatful. I need this thing painted and running by june next year. Im an automotive fabricator by trade by down right now. I need doors, windshield, torsion bar mount, maybe a hood.

be sure and check the classifieds, here, moparts, etc. seems someone is always parting a first gen Charger. would Coronet panels work?

Tell me about it! This is my third charger. Last one we restored was in 1997 and we couldnt find any trim then. Luckily this car has all the trim and just needs a good cleaning and polish. I did see a small hole in the rear right side tail lens.:angry1:

What? Kick in some funds and I might deliver.... Not that far, and I am always looking to pick up cars to part out. Sometimes what directs where I pick them up from is that someone wants something I got, and can't make the trip. :)

Good luck with your project :)

Looks good with the old school slot mags in the back.

If you are really interested in the motor I have, give me a call, we can work something out, maybe even this week. 920-267-1007

Welcome. And I'll tell you, once that baby is up and running you will love it! It is a super fun car to drive.
I am also lucky to be blessed with a wife who is passionate about the hobby and our cars. She digs right in and helps me always.
There are lots of quirky thing with these first gen Chargers as I'm sure you've heard. Don't be hesitant to ask questions because as Gpuller knows, chances are if you own one, you've been through it or someone you know has.
Headlamps, gauges, you see quickly.

I sold a van today, so I am officially in need of a car to part out. Call me soon if you have interest in the motors. We can work something out. :D

Sometimes your local vehicle glass replacement place can get you a windshield fairly cheap, I almost had to buy one for my 73 and they said they could seal a chip that was spider cracking out and they did! But they told me if it didn't work i could get a windshield for two hundred and fifty bucks, one for my 69 is two hundred and twenty five at a restoration place and i think i can get it cheaper where i deal with, i hope lol (Ashtabula Ohio).. nice project!

Your right. My glass shop said they can get a windshield and new seal for 275 installed. Might go that route. Im gathering up all the stuff I need to biuld another body rotiseire. I have been cleaning the interior up with Tuff Stuff interior and carpet cleaner from walmart. Works great! I will post before and after picks soon. Im going to install a battery and try the electricals too. Can anyone point me in the direction of anyone who can rebiuld my headlight motors? Im still looking for a BB mopar cheap.

Can I vent a little to you guys? As you know Im going thru some health issues and money is tight. I understand that when you sell something you are trying to get the most that you can and as buyers we are always looking for a smoking deal. But I have seen several cars in very savable cars in the junk yard or for sale because the owner lost interest after being scared away at what others were asking for parts. I wish we could all work with each other to keep these cars on the road and to bring excitement back to the people who need something positive in their lives. Please do a solid for someone who needs it. In this economy and crappy conditions we live in it might make a bigger diference than you think. Take care everyone and thanks for the time.

On the headlamp motors...you can hot wire them to see if the motors are good. Unplug the motors from the harness. The motor connector will have 3 wires in it, one is the ground, it will be connected to the motor housing and is back with a white tracer. The other 2 wires are open or close. I use a couple jumpers to the battery. Have to experiment on which wire opens the lamps, but hopefully they rotate. If they do, you can start to work backwards to see where the problem is.

A good solid project with a family history, doesn't get much better than that and 'props' to you in deciding to keep it in the family, you will be preserving a living, fire-breathing piece of family history, what a way to remember your ancestors lol :headbang:. And as for the 'motor', if it is the original and you may be able to do something to repair it in the future :eusa_pray: think about keeping it but needless to say, you may want to build a beast of a big block as originality in that respect is not an issue (you're not going to be using the old motor's internals so stroker kits could be appropriate?) I'm not telling you to do anything, just sharing some ideas... or is it 2 cents you call it over here :icon_biggrin:
(I'm not a member of the 'fender tag brigade' lol, I'm just giving my 2p :icon_biggrin:)

Anyways hope your Health is restored, you have a cool charger there

With all respect I agree with you but really thats why were all here, we love the same cars and help each other with any problems one may have..

400 is sold. I have the 361 yet... It is stuck, but I don't believe there is any damage in the block, as the coolant was nice and green. Good core anyway... 75$ if you can pick it up.
