I'm going to be building a .060 over 383 soon and have been looking at all the alum. Heads out there and was wondering if someone with real experience could give advice to a good head for street car would like to run 10-10.5 comp. Cam with about .550 lift 850 Holley Carb. Just looking for some advice. Thanks

I'm running the stealths on a 383 street car. Couldn't be happier with them. The specs on the motor are .030 over, with 9.7:1 compression, and the cam is .525 lift Comp XE275HL. 850 sounds like a lot of carb for the 383 but I guess it depends on the rest of your setup. I'm running an Avenger 770.

A buddy runs stelth heads from 440 source, loves the performance over stock and price is good. I run Edelbrock performer rpm's, they cost more but flow better than the stealths right out of the box. Both will see big gains with port work.

Depends on the definition of a street car,if you are going to race it fine,if not save your money, you'll never know the difference.Years ago I threw money into performance parts for street driven cars that never saw a track, finally realized that money could be better spent elsewhere. Now if you are one that likes to say "look what I have" then go for it !!

It will most be a weekend cruiser. I see a lot about the stealth heads but then some guys say they aren't so good but u hear that with just about any head even the edelbrocke sometimes. My problem is I grew up with a family of big block mopars racers so that's the only way I know how to build them hahaha. I am looking for tips from people that own the heads to do away with all the well my buddy says this or I heard that kind of talk

Anyone try the Edel. E street heads with the 75cc chamber? Big reason I look at aluminum heads is to run like 10.5:1 CR on 93 octane fuel. With no ping

I'm running the stealth heads and I'm very pleased with them. I've got 10.5 compression, but it's only a 484 cam and it's stroked to a 451. It's putting out 490hp and 560 torque on 93 fuel. Hope this helps.

my dad has a 451 sitting in the garage on the stand wont let me have it!!!!hahaha but I got the .060 over 383 plus a complete 440. the 440 though has bad cylinder walls from 25 years of rust plus a broken starter ear on the block so I thought about putting the forged crank from 440 in 383 I think that makes it a 438 stroker. basically same as 451. what pistons you running to have 10.5 with the stealth heads? any porting or just out of the box?

The whole setup came from 440 source, they are forged. No porting, my engine guy went over them to check them out. He did deck it for true only out 10,000. I can't keep it from breaking the 275/60 BFGs loose now, so I don't think I need any porting. It's in my 72 Sebring plus. Good luck

Guys running the 440Source Stealth heads, can you tell me what you had to do if anything for clearance with 3/8" pushrods? Thanks.

i didnt have to make any mods to fit my 3/8 pushrods in my heads, but i got my heads ported and maybe the machinist enlargened the ports for the pushrods i dont know.

I'm running Stealths with Hughes 1.6 rockers and Hughes chrom moly pushrods (HUG 5698).
Grinding for clearance was necessary, but it's an easy operation in non-critical areas. Don't know if/how ported heads would make it somewhat more critical, but with my unported heads it was a no worries thing. It's just the upper part of the pushrod tunnel that needs massage, and it's easy to access.

I ran Mopar Performance Stage VI fully ported with a match ported Stage VI intake manifold on my ´68 Dart (440cui) and had no problems at all, Had Harland sharp roller rockers and a Doug Herbert Mech cam, ran it with a Hydraulic cam also with 3/8 pushrods and it work flawless on the street ran it on 98 Octane unleaded fuel.

I have Indy 440ez's with a stage II cnc port job on a .30 383 with 9.8.1 comp. hyd. roller cam.

Where are you finding 98 octane fuel ?

evilmopar says he is from Sweden maybe that's what they use there? sure would be nice if we did wouldn't have to worry much about cr then!!;]

we have 98 octane here in australia too at the gas pumps, only thing is i think murica rates there octanes different to the rest of the world so in actual fact our octane is muricas equivalent of 95 or soemthing like that

Ummmmmmmmmmm.... My Mopar is American made and there ain't no way in hell any Chinese chit is going on it. I know.... "but they're good heads" so are Edelbrocks and they're made right here, to me it's worth the extra buck to support our own. Sorry guys

I run Indy SR Heads mild port work and they flow 334.5 @ 700 on my street car.. :)

Right on brother!

My 67 Coronet street car is running Edelbrock Victor heads, ported by Cody Laroy, flowing 343 @ 0.700" :headbang:

I like your way of thinking, that is how I feel too. I will always spend the extra money for AMERICAN made stuff especially when it comes to engine parts.
