Just for shits and giggles I sawed my used fuel filter in half. Blowing through the filter was a bit restricting so I needed to see what and why.

The filter was changed only 2 months ago on my 77 that was stored for 10 years before bringing her back to life. I was looking for filtered pieces of gas tank coating as I was warned that the coating can peel off ( I had the tank coated 20 yrs ago)

Note the last picture with the metal flakes adhering to the magnetic screwdriver. Where that come from?

particles of rust can have magnetic pieces left in them.tank prob dont look that good inside if that is from just 2 months, depending on how much you drive it.

Stuff like that came from a rusting fuel line on my truck.
My parts truck is (only?) six years newer, but the lines were perfect.

I use clear filters so I can see if the fuel is starting to get trash in it.
