That Damn Richard Cranium Made Me Do It!

I think im in love, might see if I can swap my charger for one

This really is getting to be cool. I do worry about the implications of the big 3 putting out 700+ HP cars. I can see some dickweed on a pedestal somewhere thinking there needs to be a law against it after the first moron with too much $$ and no driving skill kills somebody else at 175 mph on the freeway. Lets hope that doesn't happen and we can keep the new war rolling and see what cool stuff Detroit can produce.

Now where in the hell can I get 60 grand? :thinker:

:headbang:

It was the end of the muscle car era in 1972 that make the pre 1972's cars so desirable today. Creeping emissions requirements plus insurance companies raising rates on anything with 10 pounds or less per HP. Today we are getting way below that.

707 HP will not stand as the top for a US made production car for long, but I am not a fan of Mustang styling. I might have considered a Camaro if it put out more than the current 585 HP.

Dodge threw down a much bigger HP number (707) than was expected for this car. Let the horsepower wars begin - or maybe just resume.

I paid a 2K deposit and got it in writing.

10.8 in the quarter on drag radials - 11.2 on factory tires.

WWWWWWWWOOOOOOWWWWWW!!!!! That is still a heck of a lot of money for one of those. I imagine the monthly payments are just about as much as a mortgage payment. shr/Tuck

Payments? Pfffft!

I'd hate to see the insurance premium for one of these.

Even when I had my Ford GT, the, the premium was pretty low in comparison to the car's value. My agent explained it this way; the majority of your insurance cost goes to liability & the amount that goes toward the value of the car is very little. In fact, it was only a few hundred higher than my wife's daily driver.

The Hellcat has a reported top speed of 199 MPH. It seems like they could have squeezed out another lousy MPH. I believe the Shelby GT 500 Mustang is reported to actually break 200, but I don't plan on seeing much of that end of the speedometer. 199 is pretty fast for a pig of a car weight wise.

Damn. This thing is SICK! I could have made a (one) payment on this if I saved on my chrome job.

Cool car, love to have one...but what does it have to do with 66-70 Mopars Tech section???

I would love to get one but we are looking for 10 or more acres so I can build a new shop. Wife gave me the choice and i decided to go for the shop.

I ordered the same car last night and it's fully loaded. Paid MSRP plus taxes, fees, window tint, interior and exterior seal. NO DEALER MARK UP!. 8 weeks build time is what I was told.

Isn't the Challenger based on the 300? Which has optional 4 wheel drive? There's an idea...

There is an article in the new Hot Rod where they talk to someone at Chrysler about the new Hellcat. They did ask about an AWD version and said it aint gonna happen in a Chally. Would require a different floor stamping. Leave the AWD to the Charger Hellcat.

If you build it, they will come! I believe there is already some discussion of the Hellcat engine in the SRT Jeep.

My car was ordered 9/9 at 11:57 AM, 45 minutes and 5110 vehicle order numbers behind Cranium's (that guy really pisses me off! LOL) I am hoping the order numbers are all Chrysler products or that the order numbers all end in a trailing zero. Any way you look at it, that is a bunch of cars ordered in 45 minutes the day the Hellcat orders opened. I am hoping I don't pass six of these every time I go to the grocery store. I hope I don't have to replicate the car in the picture above to have something unique, but now that I think of it, it does look pretty cool and would look even better in sub lime. I wonder if anyone makes a Challenger lift kit?

IMG_2356_edited-1-1[1].jpgthe new ones are nice but I would rather spend the money to buy a matching B5 drop top bird

Somebody was buying that B5 drop top bird new when someone else was saying they would rather have a mid 50's Plymouth with a 392 Hemi! LOL There is something for everybody and true car enthusiasts have an appreciation for them all, new, old, Ford, Chevy and Mopar.

Well said.

You gentlemen that can afford a HellCat are very blessed and fortunate! You may want to look into Specialty and Exotic car insurance. Most of the major classic car insurance companies offer it and it will still be cheaper than your standard companies and they will offer more and specialized coverages. PM me if you need more information.
Enjoy the rides!

you are fortunate to be able to have the best of both worlds...enjoy the fruits of your labor!

Didn't have the extra 'disposable' money in 1969 and still don't even tho I have more these days than back then but as least back then I had a good job right out of high school. Today I'd have to hit my IRA for it and that ain't gonna happen but would like to have a totally restored but with modified suspension 68-70 road runner coupe....with the Hellcat engine of course lol.
