I know this has been covered befrore, and I think the answer is NO....
But, with just the V.I.N, no fender tag, no broadcast sheet, can the specifics, DNA of a 1967 Mopar be determined?

I have a 36Pk of Budweiser riding on this...
I just picked up a fellow Forum members 67 Plymouth.
No fender tag, no broadcast sheet, just the V.I.N.

Is this a trick question ? Generally, the VIN indicates model line, price/trim class, body type, year, engine, production plant, with assigned identity number. By this alone, specific info of the car can be ascertained... to an extent. Analogy : Human being, male, North American born in 1969, middle class, 5'10", 180 lbs. Doesn't tell you eye or hair color, left or right handed, language spoken, shoe size, etc.

its quite possible...
being that it is pre 1968
there is a chance that something might be on file at chrysler historical.
you would have to check with them to find out.
the files from 68 and up were lost in a fire.
they do have info on cars built before then.

Sure but it will cost you a 36 pack of real beer for the answer. :)

The VIN is RS23
Denotes a GTX

But, perhaps I did not pose the question correctly,
Sorry, I've been making simple errors lateley...

The VIN on the door jam is RS23 so, it is a GTX but it has no fender tag.
I am unable to determine the cars options.
Automatic: YES
It's not a "J" so it is the only other engine option, the 440 Commando...
Other than that, I'm at a loss...

My Bud is a retired LA County Sherriff, he says the VIN can be traced to a data base, I said NO...all for a 36 Pack of Budweiser..

Whats the vin?

It starts out as RS23 not a "J" code for the Hemi but a 440 Commando car.

Thanks Khryslerkid!

The link provided sent me to "Andy"

Andy sent me to Galen's service (GTS)

Diane said YES, they will take my order for services.

Seems 1967 DATA and earlier IS on IBM punch cards.
Hopefully I WILL get a Fender tag from the VIN!

To be continued....

After the RS23 it will have an "L" if it's a 440 then a "7" for 1967. RS23L7....
You don't need GTS to find out what options the car has. As Flypaper said, you can send a letter to Chrysler historical and they will send you a copy of the IBM card and a nice letter with the card decoded. I think it is $45 dollars for the package from them. I have had them decode four of my cars and the info from them has always contained far more options than are listed on the fender tag. Hope that helps.

Just for grins, reach up under the dash, in front of or on top of the glove box and see if the card is still there...

Whats the full vin? Why pay GTS for info you can get fro free? he is not even in business anymore as he works for an outfit in Arizona I believe. Reproducing certi cards is not legal in some states and really not needed IMHO.

It is $45. Do you send the check or money order with your request or wait to hear from them that it has been processed?

I'll do it Saturday morning.

OKAY, but I'd like a Fender tag (Reproduction) made.
I see Chrysler Historical does this service too!

Probably...but does Chrysler historical know the differences in coding between plants or will they give you a tag that is not correct for your car?

Here is the VIN:

Chrysler Historical won't do fender tags .They will give you the IBM card if it is on file and can decode it for you.
With this IBM card ,title and copy of vin tag(scratching or pic)
A.G Backeast will reproduce your fender tag as close to original as possible .
They also go under the name 'data tags'.
Good luck with getting your IBM card (fingers crossed)

Best place for a fender tag is AG Backeast in Grand Junction, Colorado. You MUST show proof of ownership (title/registration in YOUR name) AND either a copy of the original build sheet OR the original fender tag...only then will they make a new one for you. I believe they'll also accept the Chrysler Historical IBM tag information, as well. Call them and ask.
