Gene Winfield's annual "Open House" Mojave CA, 11 Oct.

I just left Gene Winfield's annual "Open House"
A lot of neat people and the "Custom Cars" influenced by Gene Winfield, Ed Hines, George Barris and the other Greats.
The annual Event is every October, usually the 2nd weekend.
Mojave is 24 miles from my place.

By the way, that is Mr. Bill Hines....93 years young and smoking cigars !
He invented the "Chopped and Channeled" look.
His Son, Mike posed with him.
Bill Hines is now 93 years of age!
Previous pics show Gene with some old friends, looking at scrap book pics from the early 50's

Check out the 4-door Imperial Le Baron, protected in the hot and dry Mojave desert...
Thats me with a "Flock of Edsels..."
The Mojave Silver Queen Mine in the back ground.

More pics to come.

Nice. Wish I knew, next year?

So,
I thought this pic was significant:
It appears to be a 59 Imperial Le Baron, 4-door...

But: When is the last time you saw one?...

And again, the typical Mojave California (Mojave Desert) weather...
Mid 80s...blue sky, no rain, just sunshine.

I suppose that is why Gene Winfield lives here.

Yeah huh?
Gee Dennis...
I bet it had a big price tag on it when it was new.
I imagine it was a 392 Hemi

Gene Winfield's Car show in Mojave CA is coming up this October.
Place: Mojave CA
Sierra Highway, Mojave CA
Gene Winfield is getting old, he will not be here for too many more years.
And, Bill Hines (pictured with cigar along with his son) recently passed away
He invented the Chopped and Channeled look along with the Lead Sled.
So, I'll find the date for this year and "post" it for you all

:thankyou:road trip ,how many guest can stay with you

I'm not a big lowrider fan, I do like his customs somewhat,
his paintwork is fabulous, that's what he's known for is "the fade"
from lower darker to lighter top, it looks cool {Chip Foose stole/uses it}
but love/respect the work he does, he is a legend, true artist...

I'd like to go, let us know the dates please.

Okay everyone
Anyone in So Cal should make an attempt to visit Gene Winfield's "Annual Open House this coming October in Mojave CA.

I'll be there and I think the Bladecutter is trying to make an appearance.
PS: We LOST Bill Hine's 2 years ago

THE ROD TOSSERS Present The Winfield Watson Custom Car & Hot Rod Gathering 8201 Sierra Hwy.Mojave CA ... October 14th 2017. Register the Day of the Show

I went last year, it was great. The entire place is open to walk through all his shops, the yards everything, Gene comes out and says hello to everyone, poses for pics with whoever wants one, a very very nice guy. Plan on going again this year too.

The 2017 open house is Saturday October 14th.

Yeah...It isn't just down the road but probably worth the trip for it being an interesting part of car history.
Thanks for posting.
