Looking for a front bench seat with arm rest for a 64 Dodge Polara hardtop. I'm getting a lot of conflicting info on whether a bench seat with arm rest from a 4 door or wagon would work on my car. The obvious thought is that 4 door seats WOULD NOT WORK because they don't fold down.....HOWEVER, i'm being told that there is a bolt that can be removed from the 4 door seats so the seat would actually fold down!! True or not?? Common B-body buddies...don't fail me now!!!

Seat w/folddown

The 4dr with folddown center all you have to do is remove the side hinge cover and remove the one bolt and you have 2dr seat that the backs are just like a 2dr seat.Have done it myself!!

Great News Jeff!! I'll go check it out....there's a front bench to a 64 wagon I was considering....but then not because I didn't think it would work....now i'll go check it out....it's only about 90 min from here....better than shipping something in from Oregon or Alabama....thanks!!

Hi I also used a front and rear seat out of a 4 door and put it in my 63 2 dr and it works just fine it does have a bolt just take it out and you have a 2 dr seat but it does need a clip on it to keep it from coming off when you fold it down.

Hey guys....finally got around to getting front bench seat with arm rest reupholstered and now.....when I installed it.....it barely fit in and the seat wouldn't be back far enough to give me enough room to get in it! the front bench came from a 4 door and looks great!! Can upholstery places redo the sliders on the seat so I can get it to work like a 2 door seat....?? Is there a trick to this?? As usual, hoping you guys can help me see the light!!

I welded flat stock to the seat mounts to reposition the seat mounting holes rearward to move the seat further back. Hope I explained that right. The original bolt holes move back on the flat stock so the new mounting holes positions the seat reward as much as you need.

Great, Thanks....turns out there are two adjusting bolts on either side of the brackets...and once we loosened them and readjusted the seat....all was fine.
