What was the first cool MOPAR you ever rode in and how old were you?

Mom and dad drove a 66 Charger, but my ride in a 69 Road Runner T5 with a 4spd 383 when i was 6 was awesome.
KID

I remember trying to drive my uncle's 49 dodge truck. But as far as muscle cars go it was a 1st gen Charger at around 8 yrs old. The guy who owned it was a piece of crap but the car was cool.

A friend in fourth grade spent Christmas in Denver with his mom and sister (1969). Their 1964 Dart crapped out while there, so his Mom bought a new 1969 HEMI Super Bee. Red with white interior, vinyl top and butt stripe, this was a pretty loaded-up automatic car. When they returned after New Year's for school start, his Mom dropped him off in this screamin' devil of a car. When she returned after school to pick him up, I asked if I could have a ride home in this oh-so-cool 'Bee, and his Mom said "sure, let's go!"...

Holy Crap, this was a screamer! My Dad had a '69 Chevy C20 pickup at that time - not the same, in any way! I wanted a red 'Bee after that very fast, tire-smoking, E-ticket ride home!

So, that was my first ride in a fast Mopar. Been in love ever since.

First cool mopar was in about 75...my brother put a 440 out of an old police car in a 66 cornet with a four speed...first fast mopar was the cop car the 440 cam from.....I have 4 older brothers and since before I was born in 66 they had muscle cars...so I can remember going to church in several different hot rods.

I was around 16 and wanted to go fast. Bought a fenderless 34 Plymouth coupe with a 55 Ply v8. The car and I shared many adventures as it evolved. Channel job, gold metallic paint and rolled and pleated interior. Engines went to a early Hemi then to a 365cu in caddy out of an Eldorado with 335HP and 11inch slicks for the street.
Grew up in Fort Lauderdale when the college spring break crowd was at its peak there. Imagine riding the beach during spring break with a kid strumming a guitar in the rumble seat. Instant Party Time!! It even had a roll down rear window so you could pass beers!!

Would be the current car I own now (65 Coronet), and it was the day after I was born back in 1970 (I know...I'm just a pup). Nice to be able to keep it in the family all these years!

I think I would have been in love with the mom, too! Talk about a hot mama with a hot car!

My Dad was a car designer at Chrysler. I was 10 in 1964 when he got on the executive lease program. His first choice? 1964 Chrysler 300K 4 speed, 413 4brl. Followed in later years by 65 Barracuda Formula S, 67 Chrysler 300 440TNT, 68 Charger 383 Magnum, 70 Hemi Challenger R/T S.E., 78 Lil Red Express. I took my road test for my drivers license in the Challenger. My first car? A 68 Road runner with a transplanted 440 6 pak 4 speed.

Wow - taking your road test in a Hemi car! What a cool story!

When I was 16, the test drive when I went to buy my first Mopar. a '70 6 brl 4 speed Road Runner. My Dad drove the car first and spun the tires all the way into third gear. The sound of that car roaring through the headers and Cherry bombs still rings in my head 36 years later.

Reminds me of my test drive of the first car I bought - '70 GTX, 440 6bbl, 4-speed. I'll never forget that test drive!

As far as I can remember, my first cool Mopar ride was in our across the street neighbors' brand new Charger. As I remember, it was red with white interior. I think it was a '68 or '69, so I was 5 or 6 years old. I do remember riding in the back seat - probably on several occasions since I was close with the boys of that family. It may have been a 318 car.

My 62 Dodge 330. I had it in high school and put a 426 4 speed out of a 64 in it. That was in 1966-67. Want in the army and when I returned it was gone.

I was brought home from the hospital in 53 in a 48 Chrysler Windsor. A friend in HS had a 57 Coronet. The one I remember was the 66 Plymouth 440 4 speed that another HS friend had. After dropping me off at home on Washington street he would lay rubber downt the street. It was green kinda like meepmeep's 66.

I was probably about 8 or 9. My parents bought a '68 Monaco station wagon w/ a 440, power everything, factory 8 track dual A/Cs and the rear seat faced backwards. To a kid, there was nothing cooler, espesially when my dad put his foot into it. For a wagon, it moved.

My older brothers 69 Charger, R/T, Blue 440 4-speed, fell in love with the body style about 9 or 10 at the time. Thats why I have 4 69's & 0ne 70.

You must be about my age then. 56. I did too but have spent my whole life in the service and just haven't been able to have anything like a permanent place to do any car stuff. Now that i'm retired have time space and money for once.

I was probably about 11.
My big sister, Linda, dated a guy.
He want to SW High School (ATL) and he bought a new 68 triple black 68 Road Runner with a 383 4speed.
He took me for a ride. Turned left off of Sorrento Cr. and he punched it going down this huge hill in the picture.
Did I mention it's a big hill.
We would have been just past the car at the stop sign.
Went sideways and scared the crap out of me.
The first RR I every looked at to buy and did buy was found less than a quarter mile from where I grew up.
Strange story.

Spent most of my childhood overseas with my family. I was 16 years old in 1972 when I bought and rode in my first Mopar. It was a beautiful 65 Barracuda 273 4spd car in the medium gold color. I ended up rolling it on the Wash DC beltway in 73. That's when I bought a 68 Road Runner 383 4spd in TT1 green. I Had the fastest car on the High School parking lot. It was a lot of fun. I miss those days.

Ride home (better than going too it) from the hospital was in a 51 Cranbrook which kinda died in the summer of 56 and dad found a rare color combo Belvedere Sports Coupe that was pink and white. He said it was for mom but I think he just got a good deal on it since it was a demo too and end of the year. Got to drive it when I was 8 but my first fast ride was in a 62 Bonneville with 389, tri-power and 4 speed that belonged to my cousin and SHE knew how to drive it! The go fast bug got me good on that. Next ride was with my sister's boyfriend in a 66 or 7 Galaxy 500 XL. IIRC, it had a 427 in it and is the first time the telephone poles looked like a picket fence going by. Not sure exactly how fast we were going but it was over the century mark. Next semi fast ride was a 383 66 Belvedere of my own :D Never had a street car that was faster than a mid 13 but 9.95 is the fastest I've been on the track with a dedicated race car....

When I was a prison guard in Huntsville TX in '79 I raced at a place called the Railhead Dragway. Was just a stretch of pavement by the railway.. Got up to 10.33 once.

First mopar I ever took a ride in was my first car: 1975 Plymouth Fury that my father bought from a wrecking yard for $200 it had the 360 4 barrel in it and wow that old car could move. My second car was a 1970 Dodge Challenger RT/SE 383 car that could get sideways at the drop of a hat. Ex-wife totaled that car......sad times

My first ride in a serious car was when I was around 12 my Uncle took me for a ride in his Hemi Orange Daytona, 440 auto white stripe. Cool car and fast as hell. First time driving a serious car was when I was 18 in the same car, lots of fun but I was scared to death that something would happen to it.
