FYI: Right Stuff Mopar Spindle Recall

I ordered my kit from Dr. Diff and got the letter today. Unfortunately mine are already installed.
You can email Cass, he responded to my questions in about 2 hours.

My problem is are they going to pay for the original install and removal and the re install? Probably if you wrecked and sued them they would have no choice.

I bought the PST kit and had them installed since March and got the recall letter. Probably have several hundred miles on mine. Like others, just wondering how long is the downtime before they have replacements as I can't really have the car sitting on jackstands.

So an update from my perspective.

I got a letter on Saturday and emailed Right Stuff on Sunday Evening. Today, I received both an email and a phone call from Right Stuff. They told me only the spindles need to be replaced (no need to replace the disk brake caliper bracket). They will contact me when they become available, then ship the new ones out to me with a return label for me to return the old ones. No cost for any shipping.

Yes, replacing these is a PITA, and is either more time or money depending on if you can install them yourself. Plus I painted mine too, and that has to be redone. BUT, they are doing the right thing. You can't always predict problems, and to me, what separates the honorable businesses from the others are how they handle problems when they happen. Right Stuff Detailing is OK in my book... :headbang:

Sounds like their "policy" on the recall has changed.........guess I should give them a call back..........good to know

Well. looks like the "policy" really has not changed......I contacted them via e-mail after I read the post about them sending out replacements before receiving new ones.........below is a copy of the reply to my e-mail:

We are offering the option of paying for the new spindles upfront. If you would like to purchase the new spindles, you can. We would still include the shipping label to send yours back. When we get your set back, we would refund the full amount you paid for the new spindles. You certainly have this option as well. If you choose this option, we would contact you when we have an ETA and get all your billing information and send the spindles we they are available.

Interesting. I sent them and email, and got both an email and a call yesterday, then I got another call today. Did you give them your ID code from your letter? Maybe that means something based on how much you bought, when you bought, etc.?

I will still wait for what they actually do, but hopefully the replacements come in soon.

I could lend you the drum brake spindles from my 69 Charger while you are waiting for replacement spindles. I am on the other side of the state near Pittsburgh. I have MP spindles on the car presently and she's in a body shop for some time yet.

Thanks Avantguy!

I have the original drum brake setup that I can put on the car if needed. For now, I will hang out and wait to see when the replacements come in. When timing gets critical in a couple of months, I will weigh my options then...

I contacted Cass in regards to this spindle recall. I purchased his kit for my car last year and that I'm sure it came from Right Stuff. He assured me that my spindles were not in the recall. But still, not to bash anyone, I'm a little nervous about it though.

Cass at DrDiff got me my replacement spindles in 2 days. I contacted him ahead of time and as soon as I shipped the spindles back to The Right Stuff I emailed him the tracking number.

Got my Replacement Spindles!

Well, Right Stuff Detailing sent me my replacement spindles. Old on the left, replacement on the right. This is the left side, but I also got the right one too. No charge for shipping, and came with a prepaid label to ship my old ones back. They held my credit card just in case I didn't send the old ones back, and that is fine by me. I could have shipped mine back first and not had the credit card held, but that would have taken longer and I would have had to come up with the right sized boxes. This way was just easier.

I am happy that I can finally get my stranded car off the lift. Doing interior work when the doors only open a foot is a pain!

Hopefully all of you impacted by this issue already have you new spindles or get them soon...

I was just wondering about mine this weekend - it's been past the 6 weeks they said it would take to replace. I'm going to e-mail them today.

Good to see the new spindles are finally shipping. Even though it was a bad situation for everybody involved, there seems to be light at the end of the tunnel. I've dealt with The Right Stuff several times in the past and think they are one of the better companies out there - especially in the customer service department. And that in itself goes a long way in making a decision on where to spend my money in the future.

I think I got one of the first few sets they are getting back in stock. I believe I called them at the ideal time (not because I knew any better but rather that I got lucky). I politely stated my concern that my car was stuck on the lift and that I was unable to move it off to get other work done (all true). They guy I spoke to, Jason, was helpful. He stated that they had just got a small shipment in and that he would put my name as a priority shipment.

This is a major help to get these. It is hard without being able to move the car - now I can paint (hopefully with some decent weather) and install the spindles and torsion bars and get the car back rolling again on its four wheels! This will allow me better access to the interior for seats, carpet, etc.

Just a heads up... Right Stuff headquarters are essentially in my back yard. I went to their shop on Monday to pick up the front conversion kit from manual drums to manual disc. These spindles are still back ordered for new purchases. I think they are still trying to get all the replacements out. Next shipment will be in a month. So, I'm on hold doing other things until then. At least I still have the old drum system on the car and I can move it.

Uh oh, any one else get the newest recall letter from them about bad ball joints? I too got my spindles replaced a few weeks ago but just got another certified letter stating the passenger side ball joint is bad and they will be replacing both drivers and passenger side.

Yeah, got my letter last week about the ball joints,Sorry to say that it looks like Moog is the manufacturer. The only difference in part number is The Right Stuff has the letter "K" before the number.
