Seat Removal 69 RR Any tips or tricks?

Hey all,

I know there's been a few posts describing how the rear seat comes out of the RR... sort of lifts up and out if I remember correctly? Wondering if anyone can remind me exactly what it was and if I need to get under the car to remove the front?

best way I have found is to kneel down and put both knees at the base of the rear seat and press them back and lift up at the same time. I`m cripple but that works for me,patti
 
I slide the front seats all the way up. Use both arms to push one side of the rear seat bottom towards the rear of the car, then up. The rear portion should unbolt.
 
Ditto what Thomas said. Remove the rear arm rests, I really had to give the seat a good hard knee, enough to shift it back to be able to lift it. The fronts are bolted through the floor, so yes you need to unbolt them from underneath.
 
You're a big dude goon, should be a breeze for you! There is 2 hook brackets spot welded to the rear pan (one each side). They face the rear of the car and are located more towards the front of the seat. Object of the game is to push down to disengage the heavy metal rod that's mounted on the bottom side of the seat, from the armpit of the hook. Once that rod clears that, you'll need to push the seat towards the rear of the car at the same time, to clear the tip/end of the hook. Walla! Sounds real easy, but usually sucks...lol Just being honest. Good luck, don't blow a gasket reefing on that puppy.

Thanks Prop! Actually just walked in from doing it and saw your post! went no prob at all. Just took some OOOOOMMPPPHHH!
 
K am I daft??? Where does the rear-back unbolt from? I assumed within the trunk but I donut see anything! mmmmm donut....
 
From inside the car once the seat bottom is out, there should be one bolt on each side of the bottom of the seat back. Then you have to lift the back off the hooks holding the top in place.
 
No problem goon! Glad to hear you got it. Looks like Photon has you on the upper seat removal. Easy removal compared to the lower.

What king of project you got going? Hiding a Beer Keg under the seat..lol?
 
Rear armrest removal is a must. If you try to flex the seat to get it out without removing arm rests, you will screw up the seat It is so close to coming out that arm rest removal seems like it should be unnecessary, but it is.

At least that is what I learned on my 67 GTX when I screwed up the seat. :eusa_clap:

Thanks Photon! Hopefully get to that today and let you know how it goes. It's cooled off substantially since yesterday so the clock is ticking on how long I have to get work done.

Beer Keg seems like a good idea! I have a bunch or Pre-cut Jute to go underneath the carpet. Also need to have the front re-foamed and re-sprung so just gives me a few smaller things to get to over the winter

Hrmmmm... I didn't remove my armrests... Buttttt.... maybe wasn't necessary because my front seat was already out so I could pull straight ahead?
 
So I see a latch on the bottom of the rear seatback that loos as though I have to back off a clasp from within the wheel tub. Problem is the previous owner layered the inner wheel tubs with that rocker guard stuff. Does this seem right?

That's it. Just bend those straight. Pull the seat forward at the bottom and then it will slide up a little, unhook at the top, and then out. OH and even though they look easy to bend, nope, they are quite strong. Pliers will be helpful.....unless you run visegrips for fingers!!

Thanks gdrill! I didn't wanna bend the tab until I heard it was ok to do! Pliers be getting used!!
