Can anyone recommend a good brake booster rebuilder besides Dewey? I was on the phone with him yesterday and he really turned me off with the attitude I got from him. I am not looking to have the booster replated as I recently had that done with a bunch of other parts. I just need to get the booster operational again. The booster is a Midland-Ross power drum booster for a 69 GTX.

Thanks,

Brian

Hi Brian,

You might want to take a look at The Ram Man (http://www.theramman.com) I've personally never sent anything to him or bought anything from him, but he did answer some questions I had about the unit on my '64 Polara, and he quoted me a ballpark price on restoring it which is all I was after at the time. He seems very knowledgeable and I've read good things about him and his work via several different sources. When the time comes he'll likley get my booster.....

Steve

Brian,

Like the gentleman above mentioned, try Wayne at the Ramman

The guy has always been super helpful to me. Lotta NOS stuff.

Ok, I emailed him yesterday as I knew about him. I'm still awaiting an email back. Thanks for the recommendations!

Wayne, the Ramman did my booster, here is a picture, pretty good quality if you ask me, no problems with it, but it did take a bit of time for him to get it done because he was stacked up with stuff and then out of town for a bit. I think his wife had been ill last year too, but real nice folks! He also reconditioned my proportioning valve. I put the booster sticker on, he didn't do that, but re-plated it and new seals and what not inside.

Long over due update.......Surprisingly, I never got an email back from Wayne. I ended up going with Power Brake Exchange, Inc out of CA. Super fast turn around time ( I want to say it was a week at most) and I didn't even need to get the cans replated as I had them recently redone in the correct cad plating. Highly recommend this place. Power Brake Exchange, Inc out of CA 562-806-6661.

Awesome, if you don't mine me asking, how much did they charge?

It was over the spring / summer so my memory isn't perfect, but I want to say it was something like $100 and saved I think $50 or so for the plating since I did not have them replate my cans.

Again, that was over the late spring/early summer and I have done a lot of things to the car since then so I could be off on the price. Ive gotten a lot of quotes and prices for other things since then. lol
