Hi all! Pardon, as I am newbie to "forum posting"... here goes... Does anyone know of a disc conversion kit that allows you to keep your original 14" wheels? Appreciate any info...

I know that the stock-sized/diameter rotors will work with 14" wheels.

Check your local bone yards for b-bodies or even old diplomats or 5th avenues. I was able to pull a set of calipers off of an '82 5th ave. that bolted right on to my stock spindles. Yes, I do have 14s in the front.

SSBC has front and rear kits, that fit 14" wheels. I used both on my charger

We have a kit available if you are interested. Plus you have the member discount.

Thanks
James

I just went all through that with my 70 Roadrunner............the only aftermarket kit I could find that will fit the stock 14" wheels is a kit from Dr. Diff..........give them a call and talk with Cass..........

If you can find any F, M, or J car (Aspen, Volare, Fifth Avenue, Diplomat, etc.) in a boneyard, pick up the spindle complete with the caliper and bracket. Same with 73 and up A body - Dart, Duster. They will bolt on to your B body car. All will work with 14" wheels. Pick up the proportioning valve and the disk brake master cylinder too if you can. If you are handy you can do it on the really cheap that way. New rotors, rebuilt calipers, rebuilt master cylinders are available at most parts stores.

on a customers car, he ordered that cheap china 4 wheel disc brake conversion, i was able to make it work by drilling new holes in the caliper bracket to lower the caliper on the rotor and grind down the top outter part of the caliper. its good, but i would just order the correct setup

I've got a Willwood set that 14's fit over. Not sure what model they are though as they were on the car when I got it. Happy to look at a specific spot for part numbers if some one knows where to look

I checked your website and it states "must use 15" wheels or bigger". Do you have something I'm not seeing that will work with stock 14"steel wheels?

Thanks, went with Dr Diff's Stage 1 with Bendix booster. It'll look all original under the hood compared to some of the other kits.

Did the kit clear your stock wheels? I believe you said you had drum brake rims?

I purchased a 66' coronet with the new Disc brake setup on it, and I was able to use 14x6 wheels. The 5.5 did not work, as the wheel made contact with the rotor. 66' C body cars had the 6 inch width. You might try that.

James, thanks for the heads up on "disc specific" notation for 14" wheels. I appreciate your candid advice. I talked with Cass at Dr Diffs and ordered the "Stage 1" kit as he said it would fit. Sent him pics & dimensions on my wheels, he mocked up a set on some older wheels he had in his yard and said they cleared just fine. Waiting to see, as they haven't arrived yet. P.S. - Do you guys sell a power steering gearbox for '68 Satellite?

That is great to hear. I am glad you were able to get that squared away. We do have a power box it is 14:1 but it is a bit pricey at $769.

Thanks
James
