RE: OILING MODS Help

I would like to see 30# hot at idle and 60# at rpm. 50# is not dangerously low.

Firlst off, How much oil pressure for a .030 over 440 stroked to 520. 11:1 compression. Solid roller lifters with solid roller cam and Harland sharp rocker arms ??????? At idle and full rpm(6000) plus .

I pre-oiled the motor with the drill running backwards; the dash oil pressure gauge read over 100 psi and no oil to the heads.

Why no oil to the heads ? Called Comp Cams and they stated no oil to heads unless the motor was running. Engine builder wants to groove the cam 1/8" for constant oiling to the heads. Is this a good idea ?

my 2 cents.
if this is the pressure valve you have
you would loosen the nuts on the end and rotate the adjuster so the spring has less pressure on it. If your unsure how the thing works take it off and take a look at how it dose work and while at it make sure the valve isn't stuck. you might also install the original valve assembly and see how the pressure is with it.
if the Harlen Sharpe rockers are new or even not soak the things in oil and make sure the tips roll freely..
we installed a set of new on a 440. after we ran in on our Dyno and checked the valves I discovered a few of the tips didn't rotate and were wearing a flat spot on the valve stems. the only thing I could figure is we didn't lube the tips well enough on start up and double check they were all rolling smooth. H Sharpe took care of us just wanted the stuck ones back.

Figuring out this oil pressure has been delayed due to cancer surgery; I finally got everything put back together and it idles at 80 and then goes to 90 on rev. ; The old motor was not stroked but 30 over; and the oil pressure was around 50 at idle and go up to 80 on acceleration.

Does anyone have any bright ideas ? Is this typical of a new motor ? I damn sure don't want to do any harm to the engine after spending so much money on it.

We were 80 at idle and 85 going through the lights. 40-45 when we got back to the trailer. We're running a Gen II Hemi

uwss is that with HOT oil? I hope you are recovering ok, prayers your way!!! i am a kidney cancer survivor.

Ran about 10 minutes then I shut it down. I am still alive. Wanting to drive the crap out of the car now. The motor is 520 stroked. Rebuilt the A833 4 speed. First time rebuilding, the only mistake I made was putting steel forks in instead of the original bronze. The steel are NOT the same and will cause a shifting problem; such as fighting to go in and out of gear. Car is not all original; previous owner did a good job butchering it up. Don't care about all original; at one point it was a dream in an engineers mine. So, the way I see it; mine can be a dream of my liking.

I plan on taking it out on a cruise tomorrow; more or less a shakedown drive. Hope it all goes well.

mine is a 512, go for a good drive & then note the oil pressure, mine is 75 cold at 1500 rpm, at operating temp it is 45 at 1500 & 60 at 2000 rpm. 30 wt VR1

UPDATE: Called Tom at Mildon and he thought his spring was too stiff. So, I installed OEM spring and the original pressure relief valve. I backed the adjustable oil pressure so only about 4 threads were showing. Started the engine, and it ran cold with 74 psi. In addition, Tom advised that a new engine will need to run a few miles to set the oil pressure.
