I want to mount a water temp and oil pressure gauge in my b body charger. The interior is all stock. Has anyone mounted aftermarket gauges under their dash that look pretty tasteful. Not goin for the mount them anywhere chevy look lol. Thanks

This is close to what I am installing but mine has the metal wrapped around so you don't see the gauges from the side. I know a lot of guys don't like the under dash look.:nono:

Are those the larger diameter guages? How did you get the sides wrapped around? Do it yourself or bought where? Thanks for a reply.................MO

I have several gauges under dash of my 69 belvedere - volt, trans temp, coolant temp, mechanical oil pressure and now a wide band O2. I have them mounted in individual gauge pods from Autometer and have them turned to face the driver a bit. I prefer the look of pods vs the under dash gauge clusters shown above, mostly because I can't stand seeing the backs of the gauges hanging down.

Great job wrapping them, that is my big problem with them too - seeing the gauge back is an eyesore.

My temperature gauge and oil pressure gauge are mounted low under the dash also but I have them mounted on the very back edge of the dash so when I go to a car show I can swing them up under the dash and you can't tell I have them image.jpg

I had the same problem. I didn't want the Chebby look either. I built this gauge pod from aluminum and mounted to the front of the console.

2 5/8" gauges is what I have (I think those in the picture are also 2 5/8" but I'm not sure as it's just a picture I found when I was decicing on what I wanted). I ordered my gauge panel from hemieddy on ebay.

For a location to mount aftermarket gauges you pretty much have 3 options.....under the dash, install a driver's side pillar gauge set or hide the gauges in the glove box or console compartment...... Would think that is pretty much it.....aside for custom gauge installation fabrication in the dash somewhere.

I feel better with my mechanical oil pressure gauge right in front of my line of sight at all times. This means outside on the cowl near the windshield. The peace of mind seeing 60 - 80 pounds of oil pressure at all times driving down the highway (or during a power shift) helps me to relax and enjoy the ride. After all the time and money invested, I am not about to hide my gauges under the dash where I have to take my eyes off the road every so often.

I have mounted them in old style pop or beer cans. Rember the ones with the metals rings on both ends. Took the bottom out installed 2" gauge running wires and lines out pull tab hole.

Hahaha, I NEED to see a picture of that. Sounds awesome.

I have a tri- guage pod from Autometer that was drilled to go into stock location ashtray screws. Also used the angled surrounds to face them more towards drivers seat.

I need to rummage the antique shops and see if I can fine some decent cans. Been meaning to build a set for the RT anyway. May take awhile but promise to post some pic's when done.

Anyone have a pic of these guage panels that hide the backs of the quages from side view. I would lie to see how the panel was made. I have a sheet of engine turned aluminum that I would like to make a panel from................................MO
