I have a stroked out 440 (498) with a 4.15 Stroke. I am trying to use an OEM 402 Pan with windage tray. I bought a Mopar performance tray for 4.15 stroke but it hits the rear of the 402 Pan. I was not surprised by this and expected fitment problems with a 4.15 stroke using a 402 oem pan. Anyway I trimmed the tail end of the windage tray so it would fit in the pan but my question is with the small amount of space between the tray and the pan in the front and back will it allow the oil be able to drain back into the pain enough to keep circulating. This may be a crazy question so I have attached several pics. I did the trimming back to where you can see the "4" in the pan.

I had a similar issue and just returned the windage tray. I had ordered the Milodon cause it was louvered and would allow quick return of oil. My motor wasn't stroked though. What I did with the MP windage tray is drill a 3/8 hole in line with the main caps to allow for quicker return.

if you have a 1966 and up b-body I'd run the hemi / 6pak pan hands down with that windage tray . 402 pan is great for resto applications for correctness, but for performance I'd run the hemi pan.

I agree but unfortunately I am going for OEM correctness. Do you think this set up will be OK? Let me know what you think.

Here is a pick of the engine bay. Thanks

The purpose of the windage tray is to keep pan oil from being sucked back up into the rotating assembly. It would have to set above oil level in the pan to serve that purpose. Also if the crank is turning that low into the oil pan it is slapping oil in your stock pan not a good thing.

Myself I use a Moroso 7qt pan and the windage tray for the 4.15 crank that I bought from Mancini. I race mine sometimes so I was not so worried about OEM. But many racers now run crank scrapers instead of windage trays. Dont know if its something you might consider since no one would know with it inside the eng ? By the way your eng and eng bay looks great ! Nice work. Ron

I had to ditch my tray with the hemi pan, would have to cut out too much of the tray to make it worth the hassle. with a 1/2" pick up it makes it hard to use. no loss of pressure or oiling. good luck.
