Chrysler electronic ignition kit

The new distributers are junk imo. MP quit making them awhile ago. I just put a Firecore from Mancini on my latest build. This is a very nice piece that has an adjustable advance. Uses the factory cap/rotor and is a plug and play with the mp conversion kit.

Richard get the Pertronix Ignitor II and the matching coil, the best upgrade I did,use your original Chrysler points distributer, solder a 10 ga wire thru the ballast to keep it looking stock.i took my MP electronic with the orange box out after 2 years of problems.Car runs better than it ever has.

I purchased the Firecore50 wires, ready to run distributor and coil to replace my MP electronic kit I bought from Jegs. If you want reliable timing and don't care about keeping the stock firewall appearance (sans the ballast resistor and ecu on the firewall) then that's the way to go up to about 500 horsepower. I used customwiresets.com.

If you want the barely used MP kit for half price send me a PM.

Here is another vote for Firecore50 and wires. Mine is a really nice unit, and easy to set up!

Local pick & pull. Inline 6 harness works best plenty of wire. I am still running the old black box from the 6 and an O'Reilly distributor. Requires a little reluctor timing to get thing set right but have had no problems with it and have been running it for 14 years now. Has not missed a beat yet even at 6800 rpm also using blaster coil and 7mm solid cores.

I don't know about the best deal, but if you Google Accel #59300, you will get a very stock appearing distributor which has adjustable advance inside, and out performs the stock unit. Easily hooked up to the stock ECU, or like I have done - a Rev-N-Nator unit, which has a number of very cool features built in.

I'm fairly sure it's the stock look you are after RC, so consider these options :headbang:

Puts the ECU way to close to that big heat source called exhaust manifold for me liking.

Just for curiosity, where's the problem with the mopar units; the brain or the pick-up unit?

I went with the Pertronix Ignitor in my 66 Charger w/383. Quick easy swap out for the points. Everything else stays in place. No need to add an ECU, swap coils or remove the ballast resistor.

The ECU has 40-year old technology with equally aged internals. The Rev-N-Nator as an example is a modern twist - modern design features, some extra goodies, and state-of-the-art electronics & software.
