You mean this LOL

OH DAMN!!!!!!!!!!! I'm crazy for black cars and in the MOPAR world black is rare and sells. They for some reason never did a lot of black cars.

The most comon color car you see in the 70s is FE8 green. I have a 70 Coronet R/T regiestry and I'm over 300 cars or more and most are FE8 green. Only two black cars, mine and the one in the movie Lock Up and both cars one of ones, Galen said so not me.

There is a guy that has a site and we go back and forth all the time wont say what siad it is but he numbers and figures on 70 Coronet R/Ts are wrong!

I still say white with the gold man oh man I want that Road Runner. I found another Road Runner tonight its B5 I will see what they want for it and its a 383 car.......

I no longer have the full top trim for this car as the PO took that as well, but I do have the correct 72 half vinyl top trim.

Show me more pics of your purple bird!

I think my friend may have these trim pieces I can find out. He has two 71 hoods he is selling. I think 650 for them plus shipping.

Ever hear of Barry Whites GTX, he made it from a RR and a Satellite..

Got a good deal on new white legendary seat covers so now I will have to re-dye the parts I started to dye black and also sell the new black headliner I just bought.
Looks like im going FC7 with a white gut!
Now to decide on color stripe and if I should put a 1/2 vinyl on it.

I love half vinyl tops on this body style it just looks good. I like black or white stripes with FC7. What color top if White go Black on stripes.

I would go with FE5 Bright Red if it has to be an original color. Silver w/black strobe if non original.

I like black and silver. Here is a picture of my 72 SSP, original TX9 black car with silver. We are currently restoring the interior back to the original medium blue color. The car is also sporting a RR hood because I like the look.

That is a beautiful car.

My 72 SSP also had the silver on the bottom separated by the trim. The car was repainted and they painted over the silver and the owner lost all the trim so I guess I'll just grind the studs off.
Nice car though!

Two great looking rides!! The black and silver one is one of my favorite choices for this model of Mopar.. Beautiful cars guys! enjoy them... I do think black and silver would be a cool combo on a 71-74 Chargers also.. With so many shades available now, i do NOT envy anyone trying to pick one..

My '72 RR was black with the white strobe, air grabber, hood pins, and the bumper guards. I did put a set of Cragars on though. Had the 440 auto on the floor, with white interior. Got a lot of positive comments on that car (and my Alaskan Malamute) until the trunk was shortened to the rear tire for me.
I must have had a black and white thing at the time as I traded in a white with black top '68 RR for it.

"Alright I have a numbers matching 72 340 4-speed Road Runner 1 of 329 which means repaint it the original color right, I mean no brainer."

You just answered your own question! It's a rare car, and deserves to be restored correctly. That would be an awesome, unusual, and interesting color combination. You'll never have to worry about showing up to an event and seeing another one just like yours! It's an awesome car, with an awesome color combination. My advise is: Learn to love it!

Personally, I am on the hunt for a 71 or 72 Satellite to build into a daily driver. My color choices for this project include B5 blue (like my first car), white (I love white cars), or Winchester gray. I love the non-high-impact colors for their understated elegance. Right now, Winchester gray is looking like the choice. I'll probably go with a B5 blue interior, regardless of the exterior color. I want something unique that isn't commonly seen.

My point here is that not every Mopar needs to be a high-impact color. There is something about a car that doesn't have to scream "look at me" with the paint color. One of the coolest cars I ever owned was a '70 Cuda 440 (BS23U) that was Citron Mist Metallic; basically medium gold metallic. Not a color most people would (or did) choose for a 440 Cuda. However, that car looked quite sinister in it's "station wagon" color, coupled with the "440" hockey stick stripes. Very unique. Very classy. Very serious looking.

Keep your rare RR in stock colors.

Cheers,

JD

I must say, since your car is a little more rare than the average Mopar out there, keep er stock! Besides the Spinnaker White really pops in a line-up of cars at a show!

Gee, older thread. I won't go though it.
If you haven't painted the car yet..........
This is easy. If you can live with white, keep it that for several reasons.
If you can't live with white go with the Y3 for several reasons.
Not the least of which is it is the least "popular" color in your pole.
That tells you what you need to know.
Unless you want an overworked color.

I think he said back in post #47 that it was going to be FC7 purple. Wonder if it's painted yet. :)

Keep it white if it's not too late. The non-impact colors are what stand out for me at shows. But thats coming from an owner of possibly the only 72 charger rallye still left in medium metallic brown Lol!

FC7 with white interior would be awesome

here is my FC7 with p6w interior. cant wait to get it restored and on the road

I think Butterscotch would look pretty cool with a black interior. Of course with the original gold interior would look good too. You don't see that color combo too often.
