I had a new 1971 Road Runner (back in '71) with a tuff steering wheel. I want to install the same style on a 1972 Satellite Sebring Plus. What is out there aftermarket wise? I saw a Grant wheel online. Is that the same? Are there different suppliers? What is the best reproduction? Are A, B, and E versions the same? Thank you.

Grant one does not mount the same IIRC.

Dale's Cuda Shop sells one.

There's been a recent spike in asking prices for the adapter "can".

Used to be 20-50 bucks, now a hundred or more is common.

IIRC, someone just started to repro them. Might be DCS.

Got mine from Dales for my 73, it was a blem all though I can't find it.
At the time I had to search for an adapter and found one. BUT Dales is now repro-ing them as well. Quality is great.
I do believe 71 had a different horn button than 72-4, no? Or was that JUST with the wood-grain tuff wheel?

I purchased the Grant model #1004 that has the leather wrapped wheel for my 70 RR (they started making that model again last year...........very nice and comfortable (for me anyway)....14.5 inch so it leaves me more "room". Was not cheap but I think they also make a model with foam instead of leather that costs less. Not sure how it looks compared to an original one or if it is the same size.....looks good though.

that is correct
70 and 71 had a different button then 72 and up..

I asked Dale's via email what the adapter was for, the answer below still bewilders me because I don't know what is different between my factory steering wheel and the optioned tuff wheel. Don't all wheels have a 3 bolt pattern?

Answer from Dales:
The adapter makes the column a 3 bolt pattern mount which is what the tuff wheel mounts to.

Nope.

Only tuff and rimblow.

Evrything else just press fits on the splines.

That's where the "can" comes in.

It has the splines. The wheel "bolts" to the can with those three beveled nuts.

As YY1 said. Here is a good shot of the adapter. You can see the spline that goes to the column, then the wheel mounts to that. It also brings the wheel closer as Tuff wheels are very flat.

I understand I will need three components: steering wheel, adapter, and horn button. But ODZKing provided a foto in the previous posting above that shows another item. What is the fourth item on the lower left next to the three fasteners? Thank you.
