I order a set of sound deadener / insulation from Classic industries (MM1750) and this stuff is extremely heavy. It has to weigh close to 60 pounds. Does anyone run their car without the insulation? I am not concerned about the noise, but more for the heat. Any options for heat reflecting and light weight material?

My car doesn't have any. It's loud inside, don't really care about that too much, but it is hot in the summer! I'm thinking if installing some this summer. I'm not on the track so weight isn't an issue.

Sections of Dynamat will help with the sound. They're also foil backed so could aid in heat dissapation.

I weighed the tar sound deadener and it weighs 20 pounds. I decided to go with a mylar product to save on weight and I am not concerned about muffling the sound. Thanks for the help guys.

I have only the carpet and paint. It is a 1969, hot loud and I do love it for that.

Thanks Duda. I like it loud, but the heat is what I want to correct. It is at Ed's (ASA Performance) as I had the engine rebuilt. I saw your van in Cheswick on my way home today. I wanted to stop and say hello, but I had to go to my daughters school for meetings.

Go to Lowes or Menards and look at their house heat duct insulation. There are several types. I got some that was silver foil on the top with insulation material under that and then self stick with peel off paper on the bottom. It is a lot cheaper than Dyna-Mat and similar products.........................MO
