Need help on how it works. How is it connected and to what wiring harness.

- - - Updated - - -

This is for a 1968 GTX..... sorry...

I believe it is connected to a (15-30 sec) timer that is triggered by the door jamb switch. The timer is a silver can, about the size of your thumb.

it's actually connected to a capacitor under the dash that holds a charge for 20-30 seconds that lights the light. I changed mine out a few years ago.

ill look for the pic and post it

That sounds correct and I have that. But, its still not working. It seems to work off of a special harness that includes this and the male plug connects to the female plug which is the courtesy light. Thank you

found my thread from years ago!!

here ya go...

ill get the p/n when I get home tonight

Thank you,,, this is the one I thought. The harness has the following, relay, the male plug for the courtesy light and the yellow cable to trigger when the right side door is opened. I asked because I have a spare harness which has other connection which includes a Light Bulb. I'm not sure if this is right.

The part number I have is 2889565. Ignition switch time delay light relay I had to replace mine in my 72 Coronet

Mine goes on with the wipers. Should I just buy this or wait til wiring time to see what is found.

welcome to FBBO

LMAO Dennis, Had to get a new one for mine. got it off a guy in Penn. This feature comes with the A01 light group code. Should come on when the drivers or passenger door is opened, there in some cases is a slight delay then it lights and stays on for about 20 seconds if everything is working right.

yikes. I would probably wait. unless you want to trace wires...do you have a wiring diagram?
