StreetOutlaws

There was another thread on this before and it was cleared up. Before Discovery Channel got involved, their street races were pretty much illegal. Now that Discovery Channel is involved the streets they race on are closed and medical, emergency, lighting, and pretty much everything is taken care of so they can film and race. Kinda like what probably happens when Hollywood wants to close down a few square blocks to shoot a scene for a movie and blow stuff up. Yea a lot of scripted stuff to make it work for TV, but the races are real and those cars are no joke.

Watched it last night too. I for sure thought Dave Lutz's 57 would have won, being a drag week winner and all. Probably had it "detuned" to hook on the street and took to much out of it.

I figured Dave Lutz's 57 would have beat the crap out of the Dominator Dart too...
IMHFO it had to be detuned, it's also setup for 1/4 mile also, but still lost...

Those cars are no joke, some are really fast, good episode last night...

I thought that "gangster chick" Kaylee, {like Chief calls her & her car ran like crap}
was going to kick that Monza Guys kids butt, in-front of her & his father...LOL

{I Think} That's his/Lutz's old car, it ran 7.0's @ like 212 mph during drag week on prepped tracks
& it was actually driven to & from all the tracks over 1,500 miles & like 15 passes...

I was waiting for that as well, lol.

Swamp people was my favorite show, but street outlaws has taken that spot. The keep previewing short clips of the El Camino losing it and veering left out of control. I hope he doesn't wreck it too bad, that is my favorite car on the show!

I always wanted to hit the strip again because I did it once when I was 17. But I resigned myself to thinking I would never get into it because of time and money. Well, money really.

But this show has got me wanting to build a pile of whatever I could afford (small car/big motor) just set up for the track and have at it.

I've thought about this some more and it's decided. My next build is going to be a drag car built on the cheap. The various restoration parts vendors have gotten enough of my money. A drag car don't need no stinkin interior, door locks, weatherstrip, PS/PB/AC/Radio, and whatever. The panels don't need to be aligned perfectly and who cares if it's got a little rust in the quarters. Yea speed parts cost money, but I'd rather try porting my own cylinder heads over rust repair any day of the week.

These cars at the strip? fun to see that in person , but you can't make a weekly show about it. I am sure there is scripted drama, but I think these guys and there cars are for real. You can't fake out of control wheelys and those particular cars wrecking. No way those mega powered draggers could run 1/4 mile on the street. No prep like quarter mile drag strips --takes some driving skill. How many MPH would these cars run in a quarter/ To dam fast for a two lane road!! The question I have is, how they can get all that stuff ( lights set up-cars-trailers-cameras-etc.) on a public road and get away with it?...........................................MO

Hey Hemi, it is hard to believe that Lutz was beat by Dominator. Didn't Lutz have two 57's at drag week this year. I like the show. One thing for sure it is entertaining!
Wasn't Lutz a regular on the show last year when they were in the shop scenes?.I like the show - I think it is getting better this year. Yes, violent movies and video games do affect what people do--- I want to go drag raceing!!!.........................................................MO

Around the mid-West it is fairly common to see a ratty -rusted Mopar that runs like a striped *** ape on the drag strip........................MO

Has anyone from Oklahoma City area ever been to one of the shops that are shown on the program? .......................MO

I like it. Reminds my of my youth (i'm 75 now and still a little crazy) In my day in rural Fla we street raced a lot. We pieced together enough to beat the early 60s muscle with very low budgets. --34 Plymouth coupe, fenderless running a 365 CI Caddy with 335 HP, 11 inch slicks for the street.

I'm originally from Tulsa so I know Oklahoma pretty well. When they say "The 405" that's OKC's area code. Lots in Indians in Oklahoma so that part is real. My accent is twice as bad as those guys. They must be trying hard to speak plainly. Of course I work around roughnecks and these guys are rocket scientists in comparison. It may be Tulsa is closer to Arkansas. We say Ta-ul-sa with three syllables. We say Yes sir, and Yes Ma'am in normal coversation. I have a hard time saying I'm going to Walmart. I always say "The Walmart." or he's got the "the cancer" instead of just the noun.

Monza's kid is a bit yappy. Dad won't protect him forever.

I saw on Dragzine News Letter IIRC {sorry no link, I didn't save it}
The Crow is painted white now, Chief & Sean with the Murder Nova,
are going to race in a track event, in March in a Drag Radial Class

With a name like Crow I liked it better in black but when your best bud has a murdered out Nova I guess it's good to set them apart

POS Gold Mustang with a BBF FE {allegedly a John Kaase} big stroker & N20, the guy & his 20 kids...LOL
that can't ever get down the track/street {some old guys that's supposed to be a legendary OKC street racer}

no true Mopars thou

It's an interesting take on street races {scripted mostly} or traveling around &

if that's what your looking for it's a TV show, just more entertainment,
better than Honey Bo Bo or all the Housewives BS...LOL
That guy needs to go! lol, He's one of those old guys that knows it all when in reality, has been surpassed both in technology and skill by the newer generations. He's his own worst enemy..... He has a pro-stock mouth that won't quit in a ricer/lowrider/drag car wanabe junk fox body that won't run!!! I could beat him with a rental car since he NEVER gets that POS down the track!!

There are no true mopars on there and I don't expect there to be. A bunch of guys tried to put together a fast mopar race and I think maybe 4 cars showed up. The mopar crowd seems to care more about factory correct, matching numbers or rare cars than anything fast. Always has been, always will. The show is still good entertainment even with Varley....lol

I love the show, for me it got interesting when they raced the Chicago guys, I have a buddy who is closer with that crew so I recognized a few faces.
I laugh at thr stories but am like 383man, most street racers are paranoid beyond belief about their builds and won't give up anything about their times or build :)

Fun show, Chevy motor of not thst blue dart Dominator has is gorgeous and the dude seems like a nice guy, I root for him and when locked in that Dart is serious

No mopars no watching! lmao dart with a chevy such sacrilege!
Garbage! I hope the motor falls out the bottom! That'll teach em!

Pinks! What happened to pinks ! I want pinks!! Dang fox network:(

Pinks got to be such a ridiculously stupid show, especially with that bald guy who was the flagger/organizer. I'm surprised he can walk through doorways with the gigantic head on his shoulders.

None the less is was more of real racing and not that staged bs . I guess in a nutshell,I just get tired of everything being so dramatized to draw your attention , if your racing isn't that exciting ,, do something else. I saw some very fast tricycles on YouTube ,,,,, it was real!

Garbage! I hope the motor falls out the bottom!

Bahahaha and the mopar gods give him warts on his *** and the fleas of a thousand camel's infest his arm pits lmao

Hey, at least it IS a Dart and not a Nova, regardless of what is under the hood.

So remember when I said they should be at the track racing and talking their trash etc?? well looks what it's come to lmao I think they set a bad example and think the NHRA is doing the right thing here! ha eat that murder whatever thing lol
