Hi, just wondering what is reasonable to expect to pay for a front end rebuild. I got a quote of $2000.00 Canadian to replace all ball joints, bushings, and tie rod ends. This seems high to me, with current dollar conversion that would be around $1700.00 US.

I'd expect about $400 for parts and $500 for labor

check out pst and do it yourself. take it in for an alignment and you saved yourself bukoo bucks and learned something about your car in the process.

I'm not a mechanic but was able to do my front-end on my 66 belvedere II and I replaced everything but I purchased all the correct tools from Mancini to make job easier, it cost me around $ 1200.00 I believe, but I also purchased new torsion bars and new stiffing plates for the lower control arms also and that was with new suspension parts, and also converted drums over to Disc brakes and alignment also. Shop around and do it yourself, If I can do it anybody can, but I did it in friends body shop and had lift also which makes job a lot easier and he did help me a little. Good luck

^^x2. I'm with 66belveder. As a shade tree hobbyist, did a first time rebuild on my Coronet last year. The engine was out so I dropped the K frame had it sandblasted and painted, and also swapped disc brakes for the drums. It's dirty work taking it apart but not very complicated. And the money you save in labor you can put towards component upgrades like the larger C body tie rod ends and solid adjusters, LCA rebuild kit, premium shocks, maybe even larger torsion bars depending what you're after. This is an awesome site and the members here will walk you through if you get stuck.

Edit - I also had a shop R&R my LCA bushings, got the tubular UCA's from PST with the bushings already installed. I bought the T-bar removal tool from Mancini Racing; I have to rebuild the front end on my Dart too so I know I'll use it at least twice.

An added benefit to doing it yourself is you can clean and refinish the greasy, dirty parts before reassembly. A shop will just slap it all back together.

I recently rebuilt mine and it looks and drives like new. Upper control arm bushings were easy enough but the lower, ugh. Take it to a shop and have them pressed. Only specialty tool I bought was the ball joint socket and pitman arm seperator.

Way too high, I agree with doing it yourself.

If you Google what you are working on usually at least a couple of YouTube how to videos will come up and you can watch as many times as needed to help with your project....really helps me on stuff.

On the other hand I am hiring out the welding of subframe connectors and torque boxes on my project because I don't feel comfortable doing the welding myself so if that's the case I would ask around and get different estimates, yours seems high to me also. Good luck, Al

I think I spent around $300 total on parts. I bought the kit from PST, added tie rod ends that didn't come in the kit and paid a shop to press in the new bushings as well as install the ball joints into the upper A arms. I sand blasted all my parts and re-painted them. I got to make everything look brand new and it drives great with all new parts.

Do you really think some one would pull the torsion bars, strut rods, upper and lower control arms, press upper and lower bushings, replace pitman, idler arm, inner and outer tie rods, upper and lower ball joints and do an alignment for $500???
Maybe a side job. But at today's labor costs of $80-$100/hr good luck. That's not a 4 hr job.
