Pertonix

If you have an 8-cylinder, and Pertronix/Ignitor (i.e. model 1), and your coil's primary resistance is minimum 1.5 ohms, then you don't need the ballast resistor as the text says.

i tried an ignitor II on my 69 440. would not crank. followed instructions. explain bypass on ballast please see if i can learn anything. i bought a used unit and it may be bad

Call Pertronix.

Another issue I have seen is the alignment of the piece that goes over the distributor shaft and the piece that replaces the points. On mine I had to shim the distributor shaft piece up .030" then it worked perfectly. I got that info from the tech guys at Pertronix.

I just installed the Pertronix on my uncle's 70' RR 383/4spd, along with new plugs and wires......what a difference!!!! The engine idles smother, no hesitation when ya get on it. I'm impressed!!!
