i have a 1970 dodge super bee. street use, everyday driver...
large front and rear sway bar installed
tubular up control arms
lower control arm stiffening plate
sub frame connectors
new torsion/torque bars... new rear leafs...

anyone have riding experience with these 2 sets of shocks? bilstein vs kyb

i would like advise on which would be the best install

money is not and issue between the 2 pairs, ride and handling quality are what is most important for me...

thanks to all and happy new year!

Bilsteins are for cars you may actually want to drive

KYB's are for dumptrucks.

Just my two cents :icon_salut:

I've run KYBs' before and they work, but as implied above they're harsh. Bilsteins are by far a better shock. My Porsche buddies wouldn't use a KYB to hold up an office chair.

How about the AGR series KYB?

How about Koni?

Shocks are item 3 on my current list.

Any opinions/facts appreciated.

ordered

based on several responses, i ordered the bilsteins...a little pricey, but everyone who responded to me directly consistently said the bilsteins have a much better ride quality...

KONI's are good too and they can be sent back to the factory for rebuild. People will buy used worn out KONI's for cheap and just get them redone for fairly reasonable prices. I had two sets from a Porsche 911 and sold them to a guy in Australia for what I thought was good money and he was happy to get them.

I run Edelbrock IAS and am pretty happy with them. Would not own KYBs, they do ride rough. I would try Konis

my .02

All I can say is that the two cars I owned that had KYBs, they were horrible in the sense that they were extremely stiff....felt like I was beating up the car driving down a rough road....you made the right choice with the bilsteins

Edelbrock IAS. Get 'em in red or in black from Summit. I used to like KYBs a lot until I bought my first set of Edelbrocks, which I like a whole lot better.

Anyone try "adjusting" the KYBs?

That's what they're famous for, right?

They are not adjustable. Their claim is that they "adjust" to the demands of the road surface. WRONG.
I've had them for years and while my car handles well with them, I'm sure a set of Bilsteins would be a step up.

As said, the Koni's are also good. I've had a set of 4 on my 60 Corvette for years now. Car handles great, and it still has King Pins and Trunion Joints !!!

I went with Vikings on the back: adjustable and rebuildable; American made . Monroe on the front until I get enough cash to put Vikings on the front too.

I like my KYB's in the Coronet. For a guy without a $400 budget for shocks, best shock you can get.

i use bilsteins all the way, bilstein shocks with king springs.
