The Long Road to my 74 Satellite Rebuild

Just read through your build very cool. I just bought a 73 Satellite last week. I LIKE the water transfer finish as well. keep up the work you will be painting soon.

Thanks DWilbur!

So ive got an update but no pictures yet, haven't been home in over month, but i should have some for ya all soon.

My Uncle and Dad have been helping me out while I've been gone. We got concerned because the shop that had my trim and spoilers wasn't answering the phone. So my dad went and picked up my parts, (looks like they maybe going out of business) the black trim looks pretty good except one piece has a dent. Luckily my uncle thinks he can get it out easily, worst case i have to recoat that one piece. Unfortunately their dip tank was too small for my spoiler so those didn't get done but we've already found a guy nearbyish with a bigger tank who says he can get them done in December.

And for the best news.... The car is in the paint shop!! :hello2: My uncle was moving kind of slow on the jambing, I know painting isn't his favorite thing so my dad suggested if i ask him if he would mind having the painter do it. He liked that idea and got to the shop this friday! I'm extremely excited

Good luck bud!!! I bet you ARE excited, been a job, i cant wait to see it myself with the work you've done threw-out!

Way to go, that's some really good news. They tend to go together really quick once all of the paint is on.

Thanks guys! im beyond excited! Definitely hoping it will go back together quick 747! Ive been gathering all the parts i still need. Thanks ron i cant wait either feels like a dream that paint is finally happening!

You will see your car 20 miles away looking good

Hey guys, Between work, the hoilday's and waiting on the paint there hasn't been much to report. But the guy just got my car painted this last weekend!! :hello2: Such and exciting feeling to pull up and see a giant yellow thing sitting in front of their shop. He still has to spray the bumpers, valance's and small parts. Planning on taking the car home this weekend and we will start putting her back together. Once all the bits are attached the painter will come out and cut and buff everything. Can't believe how shiny the clear looks after only being sprayed. All the jambs and engine bay are done with Nason's single stage paint and the body is Nason's base and House of Kolor Show Car Klear. Looks pretty good, all the new paint (jambs and body) match really well, but the paint i did 6 years ago in the engine bay is slightly more orangish. We think part of the problem might be all the restrictions California has passed the last few years forcing changes in the recipes. Its not bad but the painter says he want to go back and retouch some of the spots in engine bay where the old paint is near the new paint. Im super happy with how it turned out!!

Idrive- OH YA going to be a cop magnet for sure! Gonna really have to watch it..

Ron- Oh ya spring is coming up! but it has pretty much already hit here, its been high seventies last two weeks. The local car show is end of april so im hoping to participate year!

747-Thanks! I am! I'm beyond anxious to to start reassembly! Going to go check today to see when i can take it home.

Looks great. The yellow is overwhelming before it gets some black accents to tone it down, but then it looks awesome. I remember when I got the black stripe on mine how much it transformed the car. Keep up the good work!
