Hey Guys I am new to the whole Mopar Life, I just bought a 1967 Plymouth Satellite Conv. Stock 318 with a 2 barrel carb first thing i would like to do is up date the ignition to Electronic, I am sure there are a ton of threads here but, what i need advice is which Donner car should i be looking for at a junk yard, and what do i need to complete the job. Thanx

If you are after reliability, then why use stuff from a 40+ year old car? You can buy all new parts such as the distributor, ignition control and harness. But if you are determined to use vintage parts then look at a 318 car after 1972.

I did the Pertronix and it has been the best thing I have done so far to my car. Looks completely stock, as you only remove the points and drop theirs in your original distributor, bypass the ballast, and you are done. (bypass on their Ignitor ii and III's. I have the III and their Flamethrower III coil, which is black and looks stock too)

I also used a Pertronix 3 on my 63. No problems and I like the stock look too.

MSD 6! 7 wires, installs easily, hide the box under your dash. No problems!

I like the Firecore conversion kit sold by Mancini.

I thank everybody for the Advice, I think i will give the Pertronix a try.

Stay away from the Pertronix 1st generation. Get at least Pertronix Ignitor II. You could burn them up if you left the key in the run position without the engine running.

I have 2 Pertronix, both are wired directly to the coil with no issues for over 12 years. No need to remove ballast. No issues whatsoever in all that time!

The Pertronix III you must bypass the ballast.
