Whats the difference between a clutch fan and something like a flex a lite fan. Dont care about giving up horsepower

A viscous clutch (thermal, HD preferred such as - http://www.summitracing.com/int/parts/hda-2747/overview/) and a stock 7 blade fan with a shroud seems to work best. Flex fans have a history of breaking....

Stock fan no clutch on my 63. I don't like the looks of a flex fan.

Hayden clutch with a factory steel fan.
Clutch fans will operate independently regardless of RPM, off of thermal signal. No clutch/ flex-a-lite fans are tied to engine RPM.
