69 Superbee dash resto - Speaker and heater control conflict

I've done a pretty good job on the dash on by Bee.
I bought a new speaker, which appears to be the exact same dimensions
as the original speaker. I bought a restored heater control off ebay which looks exactly like mine.

However the Heater control housing is hitting the speaker and not allowing the speaker to mount on the screw shaft. See pictures.

Is there an order which it needs to back together? Ive tried both ways..

Also - Since I'm feeling incompetent tonight, How do you mount the glove box hinge?
I spread it open and it pinched my testy sack. Haha.. true..
Anyway..... Is there a trick to the glove box door also?

Oh boy, im about to go down this same road. Using a custom autosound dual voice coil 4x10 .... What brand speaker are you using ?

The original 4x10 speakers were quite short. The one in your pic. is taller than an original. There is not a lot of room in that area. I've run into the same issue when putting small dual speakers in that opening.

There's a member named Andy aka '74 Sport who makes a custom mount and you can use two slim line speakers instead of 1

Electro-Tech (turnswitch.com) makes a slim line speaker that fits. The factory uses a simple mounting bracket that the speaker goes into.

Is there some room for a little give on that heater control bracket? Or would it be possible to either make the speakers case give a little, or possibly shave the heater control bracket down a tad?

I cut some of the speaker housing out 1"x1" with a Dremel- (not the support bracket)..

How about that Glove box hinge issue?

I know this won't help in this case but for others; I'd recommend giving these guys a call.

These guys updated my radio and set me up with factory style speakers....they were great to deal with. :headbang:

It helps drastically.... LOL.. Duuuhh.

But does the card board glove box go in first?

You've probably figured out by now that yes, the cardboard glove box has to go in first. I had mine apart to install an original Chrysler Solid State radio, and the only good way was to remove the glove box and glove box door to get in there.
