Hey fella's.....

Going to show a bit of ignorance i'm having, bringing my wife's '71 Dodge Dart back to life. I'm definitely more in tune with B-Bodies, but there are a lot of things on A-Bodies that are related closely, which makes them easy to identify.

Except for these two parts............

This little doo-dad looks like some sort of union. It hooks to the speedometer cable coming out of the car:

This contraption is mounted on the upper left firewall/outer cowl. Any ideas? Radar module? Countermeasures device?

Thanks for the help! Guess I need to stretch my legs out a bit more on other makes/models, besides late 60's B-Bodies.

-Is the first one a "reducer" of some sort?

Kind of looks like a "Plasma diverter"?
Perhaps a "Waveguide" for a ECM pod?

LOL! Thanks Ski! Exactly what I was thinking. Hehehehe Either that or a Pitch Roll Channel Assembly , possibly an Aileron Rudder Interconnect.

No idea on the reducer....The cable coming out seems the same. I'm clueless.

Those parts go together they had a separate harness that fed them. And are emissions items.

That would make sense, being it's a southern Cali car. Emissions..........we don't need no stinking emissions!

muffler modulator. hemi only option. put it on ebay .

LOL!........you know sad thing is lewtot, it would probably sell.

For the A-body?
That is worth lots of $$

I knew it......my Dart is an absolute goldmine! Drinks all around! Happy days are here again!

i get on ebay and i can't believe the nonsense crap for max wedge and hemis. are there really fools that believe it?

my honest guess is some kind of speed sensor for maybe cruise control or,..? looks like it's hooked to the speedo,.....? another thought; maybe it's a type of ratio reducer?

Required when the fact-ry ran short on supply of 727's and had to put a metric Canadian transmission in a US built car to calibrate it to the MPH's

It is a speed sensor that ties into the emissions controls. It activates some sort of vacuum modulator/delay to the distributor.

I thought the Dart's were built in Canada?

The first ones gotta be the special California "Police Package" speedo conversion gear, (make the monthly goal!), second surely a prototype anti theft device!

Both are part of the NOX reduction system. California only in '71. Someone guessed how it worked, basically delays vacuum advance under a preset speed and ambient air temps.

Wow, talk about a jury-rig, just to satisfy those left coast greenies, then Ma MoPar really out did herselve with the Lean Burn system.

I hear ya lew....some folks will buy into anything.

Thanks for the responses guys! I appreciate it! I plan on putting them on ebay for $9750.00. Expecting a lot of bids...lol Actually, I've been neglecting the garbage can lately, so I might have to use these parts to keep it company. That is unless someone needs these or knows someone needing these cutting edge emission controls.

Thanks again!
