I have a customer that would like to turn his post road runner into a hard top model. Has anyone done this before? What are the pitfalls if someone has done this. I am sure someone has used moldings etc for sale if I looked hard enough for the conversion.

Opinions? besides the numbers not matching the VIN.

It would take a fair amount of fabricating and changing things around. Not only would you have to eliminate the post, you'd have to add the rear regulators/glass and quite possibly change the front door glass as well.

If your customer is absolutely dead-set on having a hard top car, perhaps he might trade his post car for a hard top?????

I am up for the challenge as long as I had good pictures of the inside of the rear panel, Maybe from this site someone had pictures with a quarter cut off.

Maybe look for a Sattelite or Coronet 2 dr hdtp salvage or wreck car.........................MO

unfortunately not too many salvage or wrecks in south Florida. I will keep looking on the forums and craigslist for parts and pictures.

thank you

Talk to the techs at AMD. I am sure that there will be some structural issues to be addressed. I am sure you are quite capable, but is this conversion wise from value perspective. It seems that it would be more economical to sell the post and buy a hard top. Good luck!

Wish I took more pictures, this is all I could find from mine.

That's a good start, Thanks for the photo. I will have the post car in the shop shortly to replace the motor and trans. I will take a closer look to see where it needs to be cut.

Note that even though I have a power window in that picture, the car originally had regular manual wind-up ones and the mounts were the same.
