I'm having a tough time installing Corbin hose clamps on my radiator hoses on my 69 road runner. I have a decent pair of hoseclamp pliers, and have put some WD40 on the hose. The clamps seem to get wider but not higher, like an oval, when I squeeze the clamps. Do I have cheap clamps, are there a better brand? Am I missing something??

Sounds like they might not be the right ones, IDK. They should expand and slide over the hoses, with no lube and once in the right place, all should be good

mine do the same thing....yours might be the wrong size clamp, or the hose it too thick

Are the Corbin hose clamps pliers ratcheting that you have. Makes a big difference when you are spreading the clamps. The clamps should all be the same, where did you buy them?

Get the snap-on pliers and life will be good. Also note that the original size clamps are often one size too large for the heater hoses and sometimes ever the radiators hoses as well.

I use a good set of large channel locks with deep teeth to get the larger ones on, seems to work great, just be careful not to send one flying!!!!!

You might try putting the hose clamp up on the neck of the fitting, slide on the hose, and then slide the clamp back-into place.........................................MO

All of the reasons why I hate these things, they literally suck and are impossible to work with! They are the worst idea for a clamp I have ever seen in my life! How can a area of <1/16" be any more effective of clamping verse's a clamp that's about 1/2" wide? So, the purist hate me, so what. They can all go )$&# themselves, I'm off my soapbox now.

Never had any problem with them and kinda like how fast and easy they are to work with. Yeah, there are some spots that they are more difficult to get to but just about any clamp has that problem. The clamp plies I have look like regular pliers but are made for them....

I have Astro brand spring clamp pliers, with the cable, and they have turned me from a spring clamp hater to a spring clamp lover and a screw clamp hater.

It can be a tight fit, but no more ripped up fingertips, no more guessing where the screw is gonna end up, and now it's like OEM, and with better equal pressure on the hose.

I think I found my problem

After some frustration, I've discovered that not all corbin clamps that are on the market are the same!

The one on the bottom of your pic looks good, the other can go in the waste bin!!!! I have a few that were like that as well.
