hey everyone it's josh, I'm looking into swapping the motor and transmission in my dads 84 dodge, but I'm not really sure what all I would need to do so any ideas in giving me a start would be good! Now the motor I wanna put in the dodge is going to be a spare 440 I have laying around and I'm going to have to find another transmission I know that much, the mounting will be different and I'll need a new exhaust system, but that's about all I know that'll needed to be changed. It currently has a 3.7l slant six with a 904 torque flight transmission. Any ideas?

You will need the motor mount brackets. A truck oil pan and pickup. Depending on what you want to do with it, i would recommend using the stock exhaust manifolds. When i did th swap on mine i used the slant 6 radiator. Never had an issue with heat. Even towing. I made the power steering pressure hose.

I did a similar swap back in the late 1990's. I had a 1985 D-250 3/4 ton truck that started out life with a 318/727 trans. I installed a 440 engine / 727 trans.
Hooker Super Comp headers from a motor home will fit perfectly.

I have the proper engine mount brackets and oil pan / dipstick tube assembly you will need. If you're interested shoot me a PM. I was able to use the original radiator as well with no overheating problems.

It was a blast to drive !!!!!!!

Thanks Louis, I replied to the PM, due to a shortage of vehicles right now, I need to keep the dodge running with my slow slant six Lol.

I totally understand. Priorities come first.

Good luck and please don't hesitate to ask any questions you may have when the time comes around.

Louis

So I've been doing some research on the swap, and I've noticed that a lot of people say you can use a motorhome pan as a truck pan, if that's the case I won't need a pan, because the motor I'm wanting to drop in the dodge is going to be coming out of my grandfathers 75 vogue motorhome with a 440 and 727, the only things that I see I need now is a dipstick and motormounts, but can anyone verify a motorhome pan would work on a truck?
