Hi, I have a 66-Satellite that is compleatly stock. A friend of mine has one too,but two things on his car is different. The medallion on C-pillar is missing, so is the rear lower moulding (between Wheel house & bumper) Car have both front and rear Wheel opening mouldings and sill moulding between though.
The body is now totally stripped, and the funny thing is no holes where ever drilled for them. It would be impossible to weld in those areas and make it unvisible. Note that eather roof or fender have been replaced.
So the question is, could a car have been ordered with these mouldings deleted ?

That was a normal bit of trim for the Satellite, so I'd say "no".

I've seen stripper (on the inside) Satellites but they all had full exterior trim. If you wanted a car with less trim, you usually ended up with a Belvedere. If you can, post a pic of the car. Not saying it's impossible but it's unusual....

Are they both "RP" VIN cars?

Yes,both RP-cars, export to Sweden. I told him to check for building date to find out if it's a wery early or wery late build (if that matters) The build sheet is unfortunatly missing. I suppose those with vinyl top had the C-pillar molding too ?

Pretty sure Satellites & Belvederes (two door hardtops at least) all had the C-pillar moulding...with or without vinyl. At least every one that I have seen.

Export Cars were set up a lot different than those for Domestic sales. I venture to say that that is where the question lies...Tuck

Was the car exported NEW to Sweden, or was it an overseas build? If it was just another Satellite exported sometime over its' life to Sweden, it should be just like ever other '66 Satellite and have those items in place. I can't really see a purpose-built export car, built in the US, having something like that not on the car. I've owned two B-body export cars ('67 Belvedere I wagon and '67 Belvedere II hardtop), and both were identical in every way to the same-year US cars, with the exception of the 200 km/h speedo (both sold new in Belgium).

On a '67 Satellite build sheet, Moulding, Body Side (#540) has a zero if moulding is included (we see that as standard optioning). I look at the next row and I see Build for Export Order (#677) and five squares to the right is a curious one: Paint and Trim Edit Waver (#692). Yes, it is spelled "waver," not "waiver." Anyway, I can't help but wonder what that means. Hmmm.

Ah-ha! According to this site: http://www.mopar1.us/build.html
there is a code "M93" Delete Side Moulding.
I don't know, but, it looks like it may indeed have been an option.

I've NEVER seen a 66/67 non-Charger B body without C pillar molding*.

The factory used that to hide the large gap and joint between the panels.

*The only ones I've seen without it are bad bodywork jobs that are too cheap to buy the $200 repro molding.

I'm not talking about the molding on C-pillar,it exist. It is the small medallion that never was mounted because there isn't and have never been holes there. Sorry if I mixed it up.

I thought you were talking about the "C"-pillar molding, as well. I've never seen a car without that, either, but you were talking about a different moulding.

The "coffin" Plymouth emblem.

Are you sure the one without couldn't be a re-VINned car?

Does the VIN plate look suspicious at all?

Does the fender tag match at least the engine the VIN calls for?

Posably was a factory goof, My dad worked in dealersip mid 60s to mid 70s, he remembers a few of these mis-haps, 67 GTX without GTX name on passagers side, 69 Coronet with rocker trim only on one side, 76 Aspen with Asper on left side, Volare on right side, most dealers caught this stuff on PDI and fixed but some most likely got out, might be what happened to yours.

Yeah,I'm inclined to Think that is the answer.maybe they didn't care about those exports to a small land far, far away (lol) Anyway,He is not going for strict original,so it does not matter.
Thanks all of you for your commitments

Yep, my dad has an original '66 Satellite, vinyl top with C-pillar moldings and emblems. Looks like someone got out the welder and did a little "shaving" apparently. With a little patience it can be done and even without paint you'd never know......

The Aspen/Volare deal was pretty common. Heard many speak about it and my FIL had a Aspen/Volare wagon.
