windshield re-seal

I had to work mine all the way around after cutting the outer lip of the seal. I'm going back in with butyl and bedding compound front and rear.

Update, Update, Update! ! Layed the back glass in the other week using 5/16 butyl rope, was a piece of cake. The front glass is another story. Had the glass company that My shop uses install the front on my Coronet. No way in Hell I would've done that on my own! They definitely earned their pay on that job, took a decent amount of time and cursing to get it set in. Not to mention he was pissed because I made him use my tubes of butyl instead of his urethane. That **** went everywhere! He Layed a bead about the size of my pinky along the bottom and up the a-pillars a bit, I saw that a knew it was gonna be messy!

Nice job insisting on him using the butyl. I've found that the urethane hardens up and not only ruins the rubber gasket, but also does not "flex" like the butyl does which keeps the seal.

He went through so many gloves, it was funny. Said he's never seen anything like that stuff before, and he's been doing glass for a while. I tried to find someone who really knows the old cars but had no luck, I just knew I did not want to use urethane. I did manage to compare the original glass to the new one, wow what a difference. New glass was much thinner.

I think the thickness of the glass has a lot to do with the manufacturer.
