500 inch motor- check. Cool 60's mopar B body - check. 11 second et potential - check, doing it with the AC blowin, just bad ***!!

Looks like fun!!

Parts, Parts & more Parts...LOL

good luck
looks like a great start the engine build
have fun & happy Moparing

Looks like a fun street motor. Why such low compression?
Doug

the compression is low for two reasons,,down here in south Texas detonation is & can be a real problem,,we are at sea level & it gets VERY hot ,this car has AC also & that adds to the problem, also it might,,,probably will get some kind of BOOOOST at some point.

FER RACIN BOOST is the best kind!!

What would you have in mind CDR? Turbo or SC? I'm currently going the Procharger route with my car

Taking notes! What color paint are you going with on the block? I'm thinking about painting mine to look like it's aluminum or at least the same color.

KID,, I Think it's gonna be the turquoise, but i thought about the same as you

hey GOON, thinkin about under car mid mount Turbo, would prefer a procharger type set up but i don't think i have the room up front.

More research to be done lol, for right now just getting the 512 built & running will be the main goal, this is the only car i have to drive, i have it SO bad LOL.

I went back and forth on the Orange and Turquoise with my block and got it shipped in Turquoise with a few cans of Orange in case I wanted to change the color... Once I saw it in turquoise I was plenty happy :)

Turbo would be an awesome choice. Definitely don't see many on this forum with a BB Turbo but I know there's several on the designated section on A Bodies. I guess running AC you wouldn't have room for the huffer and if you have to worry about room for an Intercooler if you go that route. And depending on what other accessories you're running. (I'm not worried about AC or Power Steering)

I'm in the same boat waiting to get my car out. Mine is good to go as is naturally aspirated and with the 4 speed so I'll drive it again this season as is and make the changes part of next winters projects.

next pull the crank & grind the block for rod clearance, wash, clean, scrub, clean & start putting together.

got the block ground for clearance & put #1 &2 piston in so i can install & degree the cam I put some powder in the bores that Total seal rings says to use to promote quick ring seating, it sure makes thing look dirty,, any how,,, a lot of people like to cut a grove in the #4 cam journal to give oil to the rockers 100% of the time, i cut a small grove on the trailing side of the oil holes so it will about double the oil up top.

the cam called to be installed @ 104,i went to 110 , because it is a very small cam for a 512, & i have overdrive & lockup converter so i cant go with a larger cam, so retarding this one will take some low end power out & give the engine a little more rpm.

Bet your having a ball, best part of building the car is building the motor. Motor is looking great CDR.

Very impressive details! Where did you learn about things like opening the oil holes on the cam?

hey Kid, I just studied about the oiling system & did a variation of what others have done.

looking good so far

good luck & happy Moparing

hey jeepers007, I did not like the way my lifter contact on the cam lobe was, it is a VERY aggressive lobe,i called & talked to Howard's Cams & they had me send the cam back to them so they could double check the cam lobe, after talking to Ben H he suggested a lobe they have that would be better suited for my application, just waiting on the cam to get here,,Howard's Cams went above & beyond to help me out, very good people!!!!!!!!!!!!
