The accelerator pump will not function on this Carter BBD carb unless I physically push down on the pump with my finger. I noticed during the rebuild the inside surfaces of the cast carburetor were pretty rough, almost like sandpaper. Maybe the accelerator pump bore needed some polishing or something. Never saw anything like that recommended in a carburetor rebuild. Opinions? Comments? Experiences? Thank you.

even a pitted internal surface wont make it not work.check to make sure you didnt put a check ball or spring in wrong.is the linkage going to it correctly installed?

I found that a new leather piston would "roll" the edge, bind up, and the pump did not work at all until I polished the pump well. Reputable rebuilders take the time to polish. Now, so do I.
Any friction can overcome the spring that is there to allow the "incompressible" fuel to be pushed without bending the linkage. I think they called it a "delay spring." As well, too strong of a return spring (wrong replacement) can cause pump troubles. Good luck!
