Did I miss something when reading how to tighten the strut rod nuts when replacing the bushings?
I just replaced worn out strut rod bushings and the ones I purchased did not exactly look like the old ones (naturally).
Anyway I tightened the nut to 52 ft lbs but the nut seemed to go farther on the rod threads than the distance of the nut on the rod.
Do these strut rods on the 73 roadrunner have any effect on the alignment of the front end of this car?
I ask cause they do attach to the lower control arm (LCM) and if tightened too much can it pull the LCM towards the front
of the car placing the car out of alignment?

If I remember right the strut arm keeps the lower control arm in alignment. Preventing foreward or aft movement of the lower control Right now my car is on jackstands so the strut rod is at a bit of an angle but here are a couple of pics tighten the strut rod nut and lower control arm at ride hight

I think there should be a steel sleeve to tighten too not just the rubber so you may need to reuse the original sleeve if the new ones never came with one

Yes there is a steel sleeve I didn't have any pics of the Strut rod and bushings before installation.

Thanks, so i used the new sleeves that came with the bushing set and before installing the bushing, measured the metal sleeves and they were the same length. Therefore when I finished torquing all should be the same like before i started, right.
